Location : Khawbung, Mizoram
Date : 09-03-2017
Habit : Large deciduous tree; shoot hairy; fruit rounded, yellow, and red when ripe.
Habitat : Cultivated
Note : Fruits eaten by birds.

The photographs are identified as Ficus drupacea Thunb.
Much closer to Ficus drupacea Thunb., plant shows different leaf shapes, hairiness and venations according to habitat. I had observed similar leaves and figs in Ficus drupacea at Namdapha, Arunachal Pradesh, where receptacles were globose (much oblong in Western Ghats).

Fruit for Id pl.
Can this be Ficus mysorensis ? But again there were hardly any leaves on it. Does Ficus shade the leaves in this season ?
Location - BPT Garden ( Sagar Upvan), Colaba, Mumbai
Date- 10.03.2017

This is Ficus drupacea Thunb., yes during flowering/fruiting this species sheds leaves and leaf flushing starts immediately.

Ficus drupacea: 2 images.
Ficus drupacea both the varieties from Namdapha NP Arunachal Pradesh. Lot of animals, including, hornbills, barbets, hoolock gibbons feed on it extensively. Both the varieties occur sympatrically in AP.

I agree with ... that this is Ficus drupacea Thunb. of Moraceae family
Ficus mysorensis is now a synonym of F.drupacea
Please use the following link for reference
http://www.biotik.org/india/species/f/ficudrup/ficudrup_en.html
It is edible for animals and birds for sure. We generally dont eat it. But if you collect it from the plant when it is ripened we can eat it.
Remember that there will be lots of fig wasps in it!

That would be world's first non-veg fruit then.... :))
By the way, I got a chance to eat Artocarpus lakoocha after a long time here in Dehradun. I loved it.
Kannada: Goni-Mara ( Ficus drupacea var. pubescens) .  A common tree in Karnataka.

Mysore Fig is a strangler fig with a large canopy.
Leaf blade obovate-elliptic, with a rounded base. Leaves and the stalk are densely covered with yellowish brown velvety hairs.
Figs are large, conic-ellipsoid, densely covered with brownish yellow long hairs. When ripe, the figs turn orange. Involucral bracts are ovate-lanceolate.
The species name drupacea means fleshy fruit, which refers to the fact that the figs look like fleshy fruits.

Ficus tree for identification 080113MK02: This could be Ficus callosa as aerial roots are not seen. Ficus drupacea usually has a few aerial roots. Have it on my property at Shahapur. My photographs of a Ficus drupacea tree at Phansad WLS are available at this link
Am sending my photographs of Ficus callosa for comparison in a separate mail.
Ficus drupacea var. pubescens, I think so.
yes it does looks like Ficus drupacea var. pubescens.
