Callaeum macropterum. Malpighiaceae : Pune.:
Yellow butterfly vine.
A climbing shrub or a climber.
Planted as ornamental in a private bungalow.
Flowers around 3cm. Leaves opposite.
I think this is Callaeum macropterum
Please validate.
so clearly a malphigia... nice bright yellow... does it ever fruit? have you seen any?
Yes indeed its Callaeum macropterum
just saw it missed it when you first sent it in.. yes from what I see on the net... apparently the butterfly in its name is mos tlikely from the shape of seed pod... my question... did you see any...?
I take it since its in a private bungalow... any follow up?
I couldn't follow it later.
I think the name is due to butterfly like appearance of the flower. Not sure though.
I think it is Stigmaphyllon periplocifolium (confused with Callaeum macropterum & similar other species in nursery trade) & not Callaeum macropterum after following many links along with the following important ones:
It needs to be corrected in FOI site also.
This should be Stigmaphyllon emarginatum (Cav.) A. Juss.(= S. periplocifolium (Desf. ex DC.) A. Juss.); in images with flowers petals clawed, 4 sub-equal, 1 smaller.
Stigmaphyllon O.K. But species doubtful. Please also check for Stigmaphyllon ellipticumStigmaphyllon paralias.

Cultivated, ornamental vine seen at Lalbagh on 28/7/14.
No flowers when the pictures were taken.
This seems to be Stigmaphyllon emarginatum of Malpighiaceae.
I was lucky to see tiny yellow flowers earlier this month.
Will add the pictures later.

Your plant reminded me of Callaeum macroptera.

Yes ... You are on dot, it is indeed Callaeum macropterum (-um because genus name is ending with -um). I had reached Malpighiaceae, but no literature to go further. Incidentally now I found that flowers of Stigmaphyllon ciliatum of the same family are much similar, but the leaves are much broader.
Thanks a lot for prompt identification.
In a separate communication ... had suggested me another ID (Banisteria laevifolia) for this plant. This was my reply:
.....................
Thanks for suggesting this name. I did not find this species, but closest name Banisteria ledifolia is now correctly named as Stigmaphyllon diversifolium. In fact this genus (S. ciliatum) was my first identification. Now we will have to choose between Stigmaphyllon diversifolium and Callaeum macropterum.
............................
Could members help me in narrowing down to correct identity. The two are really close.

... suggested an identification which is now known as Stigmaphyllon diversifolium. The plant is pretty close. Kindly compare to choose between this and Callaeum macropterum.

I came across this very old post while searching.
This looks very close to the climber I had posted from Lalbagh, Bangalore.
It was Stigmaphyllon emarginatum, Syn Stigmaphyllon periplocifolium of Malpighiaceae.

Pl. help me to id following flower photographed at Go Green Nursury
karnala,

This could be Callaeum macropterum from "Malpighiaceae" family commonly known as Butterfly vine.
One link to the vine mentioned by ...:
http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Yellow%20Butterfly%20Vine.html
Some sort of Malpighiaceae, perhaps Stigmaphyllon ciliatum ?
http://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/stigmaphyllon_ciliatum.htm
It looks like Malphigia cannot say anything about the species
Stigmaphyllon emarginatum (Cav.) A. Juss. as per images & discussions herein.
