What is the height of the plant. Is it a shrub or a tree? To me it looks like a shrub.
This is a young tree - about 8' in height.
To me it looks like Lagerstroemia indica.
Lagerstroemia indica is a very common ornamental in Bay area California.
Thank you, ... for providing the species ID.

Yesterday visiting a nearby institute, I saw this cultivated tree growing in the compound.
I think it is a Lagerstroemia but could of course be wrong. Please advise.
Lagerstroemia sp.?
Above Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, HP

Very interesting.
But Lagerstroemia indica is a woody shrub. It seems to have become a big tree with multiple stems.
Is it a very-2 old plantation ?
Thank you ... It was a medium size tree and appears to be L. indica. I am not sure if it is an old specimen but I will ask someone at the institute. Will share if I receive any information on this.

Also attached herewith old pictures for your perusal.
Fruit and seed can be compared with the pictures at -
Additional 2 images.
