Taxillus tomentosus
I will like to support ... regarding the identification of this plant which is Taxillus tomentosus Tiegh.
i have seen this plant once in my life over mango plants in Karnamadhapur a place in West bengal where we went for a college picnic
Agreeing with ... id i.e. Taxillus tomentosus
is it a parasitic plant. dont you think the term parasitic is used wrongly here...? the plant is green and seems to be an autotroph. it can be an epiphyte...
Taxillus tomentosus (Roth) Tieghem is a parasitic plant and as far as I know it's non green by nature!!! Please go through the description of the plant from the "The revised handbook of the flora of Ceylon" in link will provide you better information regarding this angiospermic plant belonging to the family Loranthaceae.
As per

A revised handbook to the flora of Ceylon, Volume 6

By M. D. Dassanayake, Francis Raymond Fosberg,
the parasite is difficult to confirm as Taxillus tomentosus (Heyne ex Roth) Tieghem of Loranthaceae.
because 1. the bracts are not 3 - 5mm longer
2. petiole not 5 - 7cm long
Members, please recheck this parasite.
It is a hemi-parasitic plant as they can take food from both Xylem as well as Phloem. They also synthesize food in their own green leaves.
Taxillus tomentosus

Similar species has been identified in FOI as T. recurvus, While it has been identified as Taxillus tomentosus (B.Heyne ex Roth) Tiegh. here.
I am unable to decide between these two as per http://efloraindia.nic.in/efloraindia/taxonList.action?id=14&type=3. Pl. help
If we go by images at FOI, it should be Taxillus tomentosus (B.Heyne ex Roth) Tiegh.
