Barringtonia sarcostachys (Blume) Miq. 15Feb SN 08 : 7 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (3) Barringtonia sarcostachys (Blume) Miq., a cultivated ornamental tree from Theerthahalli town, near Shivmoga, Karnatatka, kindly validate ..., I have no authority to question or validate your ID, but how do you differentiate it with Barringtonia racemosa (L.) Spreng.? Both are entirely different with respect to leaf shape, venation, inflorescence, petals and fruit. Barringtonia sarcostachys (Blume) Miq. seems not an indigenous species. Thank you very much ... I thought your pics look like those of B. racemosa pics in toptropicals and in natureloveyou.sg. But I must be wrong while comparing the photographs. However, KEW has type herbarium of B. sarcostachys where petiole is much longer than your pics. There are two forma too - Is it similar to B. racemosa ? I have seen one specimen in Howrah Bot. Garden and a few in Andaman (Mt. Harriet entrance). Yes it is Barringtonia, but i am not confirm about the species,, i doubt for species racemosa???? it may be Yes, like ... said it is indeed a barringtonia, and just like him I too cant be sure of the classification further... not sure.. |
