Flora of Uttarakhand- Herb33 for Id- JM: Wild Herb captured on 13/8/10 during the trek from Ghangaria (around 11,000 ft.) to Hemkunt Sahib (around 14000 ft.).
- I hope Elscoltzia polystachya
-But Details & pictures from FOP doesn't match including colour of the flowers:
http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=200019637
Illustration from FOP:
http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=96525&flora_id=5
-Can it be Esholtzia eriostachya as per details in Concise Flowers of Himalayas by Oleg Polunin & Adam Stainton ? Flowers are yellow as per the book. A few links:
http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=200019634
http://www.asianflora.com/Lamiaceae/Elsholtzia-eriostachya.htm
-I think your pictures match more with Elsholtzia fruticosa. Please check pg 100 of Polunin & Stainton. The leaves pictures in the second link provided by you below with Lamiaceae as the heading are more lanceolate and helps in establishing the difference betwen the two species E. fruticosa and E. eriostachya.
-It is in fact E. fruticosa.

Taking it  now as Elsholtzia eriostachya as per thread as per ... post

A reply from another thread:
"I think it is E. densa. But both the species are difficult to distinguish. As it is from Uttarakhand better to treat as E. densa"
Reply from another thread:
"Both Flora of China and Flora of Pakistan separate two species on the basis of corolla colour (yellow in E. eriostachya, purple in E. densa). On that count it looks like e. eriostachya only."

Both Flora of China and Flora of Pakistan separate two species on the basis of corolla colour (yellow in E. eriostachya, purple in E. densa). On that count it looks like e. eriostachya only.
