I have a feeling that the plant displayed at FOI may not be this species, differing in blue flowers, never seen in this species.

Yes Sir clinopodium umbrosum
The angle of your shot made it deceptive. It is an interrupted spike, but the shot, although very beautiful, makes it appear as a continuous spike.
Still can't believe it is the same as this:

..., I do not see toothed margin described for leaf at FOI.
Do we re-validate both: posted plant and that at FOI ?
I know when you raise some doubt, some thing good comes out.
Clinopodium umbrosum as well as the related species C. vulgare show lot of variation in leaf size, leaf may be subentire, crenulate to serrate in both the species, and intergrading forms do occur. Former has loose distant whorls, smaller bracts barely up to 4 mm long and corolla 6-9 mm longer, the leaves are more sharply toothed typically. C. vulgare has leaves less sharply toothed almost subentire, whorls condensed, bracts 5-10 mm long and corolla 10-15 mm long. I agree we should have typical specimens on our websites for clear reference. . I am uploading some more photographs for comparison from Kashmir.
The above from ... I am sure belong to C. umbrosum.

Please check Calamintha umbrosa.
Thank you ... I am confused between Calamintha umbrosa and Calamintha clinopodium (Clinopodium vulgare). I do not know what features differentiate the two. Please advise.
Could it be ... Clinopodium vulgare
Thank you ... ... suggested Calamintha umbrosa. I am confused between that and Calamintha clinopodium (Clinopodium vulgare). Please advise.
Clinopodium umbrosum as well as the related species C. vulgare show lot of variation in leaf size, leaf may be subentire, crenulate to serrate in both the species, and intergrading forms do occur. C. vulgare has leaves less sharply toothed almost subentire, whorls condensed, bracts 5-10 mm long and corolla 10-15 mm long.
It is Clinopodium umbrosum (M. Bieb.) C. Koch, a common species almost through out India. In my Ph.D. thesis I've keyed out the difference with C. vulgare as
Verticillasters ± loose, 10 – 15 -flowered; bracts 2 – 4 mm long, shorter or rarely somewhat equal to calyx; corolla 5 – 7 (-8) mm long in C. umbrosum
Verticillasters compact, dense, 20 – 30-flowered; bracts 6 -9 mm long, equal or longer than calyx; corolla 7 – 12 (-15) mm long in C. vulgare
It may be stated that the C. vulgare is confined to NW Himalayas in India.

It was near the roadside and hence was covered with dust.
Micromeria imbricata
May be Clinopodium umbrosum (Lamiaceae).
Thank you ... for the feedback.
I did not find Micromeria imbricata in the efi database. I also did not find photographic images of the same on the net (or could not use correct keywords to search)
This plant resembles the C. umbrosum uploaded in the efi database.
M. imbricata is a widely distributed species (West Asia, India and South Africa).
Check once again.
Lot of images of Micromeria imbricate are available on google search. Pl. see the link
They, however, do not seem to match with the posted plant.

From Infl it is look like Clinopodium sp
nice capture
do you have pictures of the leaves and the stem?
The picture dates back to 2005. I was not much curious about plants at that time. Birds, mammals,butterflies....fauna in general.......As you can see it's a picture of a butterfly. Somehow after searching old images matching with some of the newly posted ones by others I thought this to be from Lamiaceae.
Obviously no other pictures.
Because of the group I now know that it is Clinopodium.
Whenever I will get a chance in similar habitat (Rarely one visits the same area that far off from ones native place unless one  thinks it's very very extraordinary) I or any other like minded member will surely observe and photograph with searching mind to get more details.
Thanks for the opinions all my dear friends.
I think closer to Clinopodium umbrosum (M.Bieb.) Kuntze as per keys and images herein.

This herb was recorded from Gori Valley area, is this Clinopodium umbrosum or otherwise ??
It is not Clinopodium umbrosum, form calyx character, I guess it might be Melissa sp., but not sure.
I also think close to images at Clinopodium umbrosum

Nepeta sp. ABMAR01/08 : 3 posts by 2 authors. 3 images.
I photographed this ground hugging plant a couple of days ago and suspect it to be of Nepeta genus. Please advise.
Nepeta species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net)
Does not appear to be a Nepeta species.
May be from some other genus.

Thank you ... for fishing it out again. I now think this to be a Clinopodium sp., perhaps Clinopodium umbrosum. I will have to look at my original photos to see if I had photographed the calyx properly.
Yes, you may be right.

It may be from Nepeta Spp. or Phlomis Spp. Please check and if possible post whole plant photo
Possibly a species of Ajuga, (Lamiaceae)
I think close to images at Clinopodium umbrosum (M.Bieb.) Kuntze

Micromeria biflora (Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don) Benth. ??

No, it is not Micromeria biflora.

No it is not Micromeria biflora, in that species, the leaves are small and round shape.

To me appears close.
I guess flower pattern is not matching. May be something different?

Saw these tiny flowers en route Ghangaria from Govindghat, Uttarakhand in Aug 2018.
Requested to please provide ID.

Lamiaceae. Lamium, Clinopodium, Stachys...

Looks to be Clinopodium sp. as also suggested by ...

Thanks ... The flowers were very small hence they could most probably be Clinopodium umbrosum.

To me also appear close to images at Clinopodium umbrosum (M.Bieb.) Kuntze
