Campanulaceae & Gentianaceae Week: Swertia from Chakrata 2011: This is Swertia cordata... shot from Chakrata in September 2011...

Flora Picture of the Year-2011: This is my Flora picture of the year 2011. This is a Swertia species, one of the four we have had during our trip to Chakrata (Uttrakhand), during September, 2011. The picture is ordinary, but the story is unforgettable for me.
I have been fortunate to be a part of that marvelous "Flower Hunting Trip" with such great enthusiasts and wonderful personalities. The tour is unforgettable, packed with a huge collection of plants under the expert guidance of ..., affection and care from ..., extreme floristic and technical knowledge of .... The group enjoyed the company of ..., who is ever ready and ever prepared to go to any extent for his unending desire of locating new specimens for the group.
And worth mention is...this was my first personal encounter with Leeches..... Above all, this was the greatest Botanical excursion I ever had been a part of. Thanks to all experts, MANY THANKS TO EFLORA FOR GIVING THIS UNIQUE PLATFORM.
Yes ..., this is Swertia cordata. ... it has been a great pleasure to be in your and ... company in both our trips together to Morni and Chakrata. Your knowledge of flora, dedication and culture has impressed both me and my wife. Yes Chakrata trip was highly productive and greatly enriched our knowledge of Himalayan Flora. Hope to have many more trips in future.
Swertia flowers are a great treat to eyes, ...
More so because there are just a rare few that can be found in wilderness of Western Ghats.
The flower in your flora picture of the year is very beautiful, Mother Nature's wonderful geometrical art.
besides botanizing we relished your vigour to retrieve new plants from difficult situations. Well, do not cling on to memories, move on to the next tour.
Thanks to all for kind words and encouragement, ... and all other members who wish to organize such trips, I am looking forward for many such fruitful tours in the times to come, as they provide great opportunity to the plant lovers to relish the extraordinary, unexplainable and unlimited beauty of
nature....
You are wrong, ..., the picture is NOT ordinary... its quite unique.... so unique, I saved it the first time you showed it... whit with violet streaks in special patterns ( that remind me of symbols of musical notes and or lightening ) I want to paint it when time permits.....
I envy you, you had great company in this trip ...
I was amused to see variously decorated petals of different species of Swertia, never before experience.
Great creation of Nature geometrical yet so very natural and beautiful loved the color combinations and the architecture of the flower.
