Am quite comfortable with Smithia setulosa.
This photo indeed shows large handsome flower of Smithia setulosa, about 15 - 20 mm across.
All aspects about this plants are larger in comparison to other species of Smithia found in northern Western Ghats. The full grown plant stands about 1 - 1.5 m tall, with large compound leaves, the leaflets as large as compound leaves of the other 2 species.
Both S. hirsuta and S. bigemina are smaller plants, less than a metre high.

I think no; and I have strong doubts of Smithia blanda distributed in northern Wesern Ghats
Thanks, ..., This is what ILDIS says:
Smithia blanda Wall. (India (N) ; Gujarat ; Karnataka ; Kerala ; Maharashtra ; Tamil Nadu as per ILDIS)
Smithia setulosa Dalzell (Bangladesh (N); China (N); Guizhou ; Sichuan ; Yunnan ; India (N); Assam; Karnataka ; Kerala; Madhaya Pradesh ; Maharashtra; Manipur ; Meghalaya ; Nagaland ; Rajasthan; Sikkim ; Tamil Nadu ; West Bengal; Laos (N); Sri Lanka (N) ; Thailand (N) as per ILDIS
Do you find ... plant same as yours ?
Ah, thanks... I had not known about this distribution fact.
I do not think there are two plants; hoping someone validates this possibility.

It was a herb 3and half feet high,.
Why the flowers were closed ? due to cloudy weather?
snapped in the late afternoon on the fort of Ghangad near Lonavala.
2 elongatebrown marks are seenat the end of a flower base though flowers are closed.
it is Smithia setulosa or S.racemosa

Plant for ID :: Lohagad, Pune :: ARKNOV23 : 8 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (10)
This plant was seen at Lohagad near Pune on the mountain top. It was going wild profusely.
Requested to please ID.
It seems Smithia conferta Sm.
Can this be Smithia setulosa? It matches with some of the posts of eFI. The plants were nearly a metre in height.
As regards the flower colour, is it that the white flowers have been already pollinated and have hence changed to white?
Smithia conferta seems to be a small herb.
It is Smithia setulosa.
What is the reason for the flowers being white (are they pollinated and hence they change colour)?

Thanks, ...
Can you tell me how to differentiate Smithia blanda Wall. (India (N) ; Gujarat ; Karnataka ; Kerala ; Maharashtra ; Tamil Nadu as per ILDIS) from Smithia setulosa Dalzell (Bangladesh (N); China (N); Guizhou ; Sichuan ; Yunnan ; India (N); Assam; Karnataka ; Kerala; Madhaya Pradesh ; Maharashtra; Manipur ; Meghalaya ; Nagaland ; Rajasthan; Sikkim ; Tamil Nadu ; West Bengal;  Laos (N) ; Sri Lanka (N) ; Thailand (N) as per ILDIS) ?

For me the ID by ... is correct. I compared the images at the links provided.
Blanda is abt 30 cm tall, found at lower altitude, flowers capitate. Leaflets not bristle pointed.
Setulosa is abt 100 cm tall, found at higher elevation, flowers in forked racemes. Leaflets bristle pointed.
Thanks, ...
As ... has stated that posted herb was around 1.5 feet tall, than it should be setulosa.
Flora of China also says Shrublets, 40-60 cm tall.
Thanks for bearing with troubles from my side.
I was wandering, as we did not have even a single post on Smitia blanda despite it being wide spread (Bangladesh (N); China (N); Guizhou ; Sichuan ; Yunnan ; India (N); Assam; Karnataka ; Kerala; Madhaya Pradesh ; Maharashtra; Manipur ; Meghalaya ; Nagaland ; Rajasthan; Sikkim ; Tamil Nadu ; West Bengal;  Laos (N) ; Sri Lanka (N) ; Thailand (N) as per ILDIS).
BTW do you have any collection of Smitia blanda at your end, to further clarify the situation.

Was checking my old photographs.
Herbs with a height of 1 meter or so. Large in numbers on a plateau near Satara (Mandhardevi) Sep 2013
Can it be Smithia setulosa.
Unfortunately all flowers are closed.

I think it is not possible to id as neither the flowers nor the bracts are clear.
However, Smithia setulosa Dalzell  is possible based on the habit as per comparative images at Smithia
