Many thanks ... for showing Sesbania sesban.
Clearly, I have been mistaking my plants at efi thread to be S. sesban.
Will revise my flickr notes as soon as time permits.
In fact I was surprised that day when half the people called that plant as S. sesban and other half S. bispinosa. This tree was cultivated in our botanical garden and we regularly give to our students. It looks like ordinary tree, only it will die after few years. S. bispinosa habit is so different and leaves much more longer. You have to see them personally for not getting confused.

Shrub for ID: SPC-011:  Please help to identify this shrub from Baroda. Pictures of leaves and flowers also attached.
... species of Sesbania (family Fabaceae); probably Sesbania sesban.
Yes, Sesbania sesban....a soil vitalizing plant...
Herbaceous stem indicates S. bispinosa, an aquatic annual herb. S. sesban is a tall (2-3 m) shrub or a small tree with a woody stem. Size of leaf/leaflets and number of leaflets can help confirm the ID. Other keys are if the plant is armed/unarmed and if the pod is twisted/not twisted.
Thank you sir for sharing your observations.
I have attached a full-size image where several pods can be seen.
Could you please have a look if it can help in identifying the species?
I could count 20 - 24 pairs of leaflets and the size of the individual leaflet is around 1.8 cm long and 0.4 cm wide. I don't remember seeing any prickles but maybe I could have overlooked, I can't be sure of it.
The habitat where the pictures were clicked is a dry area.
Looks like Sesbania sesban only....the size of leaflets, the variegated corolla and even the habit is suggestive of S. sesban

Thanks Usha di for the Bangla name. Will add it to my notes.
In North-West UP it is Agast.
Thank you very much ... for this local name in n-w UP. Will add it to my notes.
I think images at Pirojshanagar may be of Sesbania cannabina (Retz.) Pers. as per images herein & as per keys at Flora of China.
Thanks ... I have not been able to get familiar with Sesbania species. Will wait for any validating comment(s). Until then will label the Pirojshanagar sighting with Sesbania ¿ cannabina ?
