It may be Senna hirsuta. http://www.flickr.com/photos/vidyalovesnature/2073078231/ Perhaps number of leaflets, presence and location of gland/s and size of pod should confirm conclusively. Other things especially stamens and ovary do fit Senna hirsuta. Thanks ... and ... I had arrived at this ID but plants on efloraofindia labelled under this name do not tally with this, however the link provided does fully agree. Leaflets were 6 pairs but ignored the gland. The pods were terete and densely silky. Six pairs of leaflets further goes in favour of Senna hirsute Plant identification : 5 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (3) Date 13 DEC 2017 Place Agara Lake, HSR layout, Bengaluru Plant looks very attractive due to yellow flowers and hairy 'tentacles' around inflorescence. The leaves bigger at the apex than the base. Pl. check OK. I will check. I could identify the plant as Senna hirsuta. The tentacle like structures are hairy immature fruits. It also matches with leaves. Three pairs of leaflets, one at the apex being biggest. Please confirm my observations. Thanks, ..., You are perfectly right. Pl. see images at Sorry, I sent you a wrong link earlier. Actually earlier lot of herbarous species in Cassia has been transferred to Senna. 1 image. Tamil names of the exotic naturalized Senna hirsuta : 3 posts by 2 authors. Please help me with any of the valid name(s) among malaiyavarai, malaiyavaram, malaiyavirai in native script listed at ENVIS / FRLHT. I think malai / malaya / malaiya refer to mountain - though mountain / hill does not fit in context of Senna hirsuta; I could be not aware of some word similar sounding and meaning woolly / hairy. I found அவரை avarai / ஆவாரம் avaram = field-bean, Dolichos lablab Here are the Tamil names in their native script: malaiyavarai: மலையாவாரை (மலை + ஆவாரை), malaiyavaram: மலையாவாரம் (மலை + ஆவாரம்), malaiyavirai: மலையாவிரை (மலை + ஆவிரை) I have split the Tamil words above for better clarity. Dolichos lablab is called "avarai" (அவரை) in Tamil. But the name "āvārai" (ஆவாரை) and "āvāram" (ஆவாரம்) refer to Senna auriculata (here comes the importance of phonetics!). I think the plant here (Senna hirsuta) is compared with Senna auriculata perhaps due to their morphological similarities, and distinguished from it by the prefix "malai" meaning "of hill" or "wild". The term "malai" could also refer to the hairy feature of the plant. Thank you very very much ... for the help with names in native script and for the clear and lucid explanations !!!
