Senna sophera :: Tholpetty WLS, Wayanad :: 14 NOV 19 : 6 posts by 2 authors. 6 images. Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary Wayanad Date: November 14, 2019 ... Altitude range: about 650 to 1150 m (2,100 to 3,800 ft) asl Senna sophera (L.) Roxb. Looks different. Will let you know the species after checking. OK, thanks very much, ... for validating. It will be a great help to get ID corrected. I have gone by what I recollect about leaflets and placement of flowers. Looking at the pods it is Senna occidentalis. These are common weeds found in Wayanad, Coorg & Mysore area. Common names : Mogdad coffee. Seeds can be roasted and used as a substitute for coffee. They have also been used as an adulterant for coffee. There is apparently no caffeine in mogdad coffee. Thank you very much ... for pointing to correct ID, along with information. This was a great help. I have corrected my notes at flickr. References:
