Erythrina variegata (syn. E. indica Lam., E. variegata var. orientalis (L.) Merr.; Tiger's Claw, Indian Coral Tree and Sunshine Tree; Pāli: pāricchattaka; Sanskrit: pārijāta, पारिजात) is a species of Erythrina native to the tropical and subtropical regions of eastern Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, northern Australia, and the islands of the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean east to Fiji.[1]
It is a thorny deciduous tree growing to 27 m (89 ft) tall. The leaves are pinnate with a 20 cm petiole and three leaflets, each leaflet up to 20 cm long and broad. It has dense clusters of scarlet or crimson flowers and black seeds.[3]
It is valued as an ornamental tree. Several cultivars have been selected, including 'Alba' with white flowers.[3]

erythrina indica : This is yet another image of erythrina indica, but it was taken a couple of months ago when the tree still had folige. It is the same tree whose images I had posted last week. This is a tree that I know well, it is growing in my place at zirad, alibaug. Small buds have appeared and I hope to see it in bloom soon.

Agree with .... This is Pangara [Erythrina variegata syn. Erythrina indica] - the Indian Coral Tree.
it is Erythrina variegata. the third pic shows  soem infection/ disease
Erythrina variegata. Some red flower colour is also visible. May be flower at the top.
also this tree perhaps has micro-metal-nutrition deficiency... not healthy.... leaves are threadbare thin...  and lacking some patches of cholorophyll.
Erythrina variegata... not a very abundant tree in Chandigarh and surrounding areas...

Date : 18th December 2010
Habitat : Cultivated

Thanks ... for showing these line of Erythrina trees with variegated leaves.
There is a good park with a waterbody near Shegaon. I remember having seen a lot of good plants there with many many butterflies enjoying nectar from the flowers. A great sight to watch.

The variegated variety is probably called as E.parcelii however needs confirmation. Thanks for good picture. The Park is known as Anand Sagar & is managed by 'Sewa' (service to the society).

Thanks for showing the white variety
This beautiful species called Shwetmandar in Sanskrit is almost getting extinct at least in Mumbai and needs special efforts for continuing its progeny.
Is there some place in Bengaluru or Hyderabad, where I can obtain seeds or saplings of Erythrina variegata  var. alba (white variety/cultivar)?

please identify the Erythrina tree- is it E. indica or variegata?.
When and where?
The snaps were taken at the junction of Pratwiraj Road and Shahjahan, Infront of hotel Tajmansingh, in 2014.
You mean in Delhi?
With these images, it is difficult to say, but most likely to be Erythrina variegata (syn: Erythrina indica Lam.)

Erythrina Indica Var Alba :  6 posts by 3 authors.
I saw your pictures of Erythrina Indica var alba taken from Horticultural Society, Kolkata.
I would like to learn more about this tree if information is available with you please share. This tree was reported to have found in a Temple in Chembur in Mumbai, later it was propagated in Victoria Gardens and exported to many foreign countries long ago. But today there is no trace of this tree, it is getting extinct in Mumbai. It is available in a few countries in Europe and USA, but it is not available easily in nurseries in India.
I am trying for this tree, please give information about this plant.
Pangara tree with white flowers
Erythrina Variegeta var alba or Erythrina Indica var alba
Thanks, ...,
Pl. the see the following links for more details from Erythrina variegata:
Do you know any nursery or contact person who can supply seeds or saplings of this plant? I am taking steps to conserve it.
There are plenty of these tree in Bandra specially Carter road.
Thanks for the information. But I enquired many plant nurseries in Mumbai, none of them sell this particular tree. One of the nurseries told it is very rare and they will try to get it but it will take a long time to locate one and find the seeds. In case I go to Mumbai, I will look for them in the location you specified. If any nurseries are selling them please let me know.
It can also be propagated from cuttings - cuttings 6 ft x 3 inches across root readily.

Fabaceae (Fortnight)-Erythrina sp. for ID-PC-14-13.10.2015 : 7 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2)
the Erythrina is from Uttarakhnda on road side after Almora while we were coming down. Please identify it.

Erythrina species in eFIoraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available)

Seems more like Erythrina variegata. ..., can you tell something about bark and spines or if there were any leaves. These might help in correct ID
It looks more like Erythrina variegata.

Fabaceae (Faboideae) Fortnight: Erythrina suberosa from Delhi-GSOCT26/31 : 5 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (4)
Erythrina suberosa Roxb., Fl.Ind. 3:253. 1832.
Large tree, branches armed with sparse prickles; leaves trifoliate, often armed on petiole, terminal leaflet rhomboid-ovate, up to 15 cm long, lateral obliquely deltoid; racemes 5-10 cm long, flowers scarlet in fascicles of 1-3; calyx somewhat bilabiate; pod up to15 cm long, beaded.
Commonly planted in Delhi, photographed from Vikas puri
Is it not E.variegata or E.stricta as per the following (as the calyx appears to be spathaceous & not two lipped):
As per efi thread:
Of course the Key in BSI is very good and depends on calyx spathaceous, not 2 lipped, splitting down deep to base in E.variegata and E.stricta whereas not so in E suberosa where it is not spathaceous and it is more or less 2 lipped.
As per efi thread:
Calyx not 2 lipped, splitting down to the base, entire at apex is E. stricta
Calyx 2 lipped. not splitting down is E. suberosa, though the bark and spines may differ.
Pl. also see FOC illustration
If the pods belong to the same tree then it has to be Erythrina variegata.
E. stricta and E. suberosa both have pods which are much less constricted between the seeds.
These black distinctly torulose pods are characteristic of E. variegata.
The image of the leaves seems to show the whitish yellow midrib of this commonly planted species.

Erythrina for ID : Oman : 280912 : AK-2 : 13 posts by 5 authors. Attachments (7)
Seen two small trees in one of the plant nurseries in Muscat today.
Leaves suggest some Erythrina species.
No flowers, only leaves and black spines on the bark.
Height approx 10 feet.
Erythrina haerdii has big spines on the trunk. In this case ID cannot be confirmed.
I could photograph the buds and later the mature pods.
Buds taken on 1/3/13, the pods on 2/5/13. Missed out the flowers as I was out of town.
Is it possible to find an id to this young tree?
I was lucky to capture flowers on the same tree yesterday.
Attaching the pictures.
To me it looks very close to Erythrina variegata. Attachments (6)
Very good pictures.
Thanks a lot. Hope to get my suggested id validated.
Why not? I think yes correct
As per efi thread: ... the Key in BSI is very good and depends on calyx spathaceous, not 2 lipped, splitting down deep to base in E.variegata and E.stricta whereas not so in E suberosa where it is not spathaceous and it is more or less 2 lipped.
In view it is more closer to Erythrina suberosa Roxb.
I think ... is right. It seems close to E. variegata, unless there is
a local species from Oman.
The leaves seem to be completely glabrous and the stem with black prickles is another clue.
All the specimens of E. suberosa I have seen are completely leafless at flowering time.
Once the tree is fruiting you will be able to get a more definite id.
Thanks, ... Pl. see the fruits here.
Thanks. E variegata, then

Erythrina indica or Erythina variegata seeds are brown, not red but this seed is red
Kindly confirm the species

Flowers are not clear and front leaves are confusing. However, this seems to be Erythrina variegata as per the shape of the fruits.
Also seeds appears to be immature and colour may turn out to be as per links below, on drying:
