My sony alpha 100, I manage macro capability with extension tubes, 70-315 lens for shooting flowers on trees. Recently my Sony DSLR has started giving error 0x5b nearly 40 percent times, possibly a fault in aperture assembly. There being no repair support for Sony DSLR in India, I was thinking of buying a new DSLR camer, possibly Nikor d5100, may be an additional utility. I agree with you to some extent. Prosumer (Non SLR ) cameras have improved a lot in recent years. Many a times I feel helpless not having my old Nikon Coolpix 5700 which was sooooo good for flower photography. I remember taking many beautiful shots which I feel were somewhat better than the current SLR which I am using now. Somehow that model has been discontinued and I couldn't figure out any comparable model so far. I think we have to add the camera equipment details in individual profile on our website which will help others for buying decisions. Yes ... That is a good idea. We can also have a new thread where all interested members can give detais about their camera equipment. We can then have a new page in the website with all information handy. if you want one.... Nikon Coolpix 5700 is till available used ... for about 130 dollars on Amazon.com... or a new one for 1300.00 dollars..ten times more... both at http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000069092/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used look at it who know you may find something you like... That model 5700 had inherent problem. The CCD pops off after 4000 images. Same thing happened with three of us who purchased it together. I purchased it for Rs 45000 some 7years back and have spent 2-3000 on repairs. Battery doesn't last long. I won't dare to buy that again....rather can get any decent new one for 25000

DICHROSTACHYS CINEREA: Attaching an image of Dichrostachys cinerea. This plant is commonly known as Painted Thorm Bush. It is not a common plant at this place. Forest department must have introduced it. I have seen only one plant at this place within an enclosure. Very common in scrub jungles nearby Chennai and also found in Guindy National Park, IIT Madras, Chennai and C L R I, Adyar campuses in Chennai. Common in the thorn forest along the Coimbatore region of the Western Ghats. Its also known as Sthalaviruksha plant. Exist in few temples.
