Our from Chakrata have much less dense inflorescence.
Desmodium heterocarpon
If I am not wrong ... had also posted it recently from Mulshi.
Such a beautiful terminal raceme.
A Desmodium from a group with trifoliate leaves.=>shrub and not herb. Pods deeply constricted between seeds; joints dehiscent. (Pods scarcely constricted and joints indehiscent in Desmodium pulchellum).

Photographed at my farm at Shahapur on Sunday (around 30/11/2010) . Please identify this species of Desmodium. It stood about a foot high. It is not D.congestum. Also don't think it is D.heterocarpon either.
can we have sizes of leaflets, raceme and corollas? Also if
stipels present.
Will do, but after 2 weeks.
Thanks ... Kept a watch on it and it turned out to be Desmodium congestum [Tapoti].
While most self-respecting Desmodium congestums generally flower & fruit between September and October, this one probably a straggler flowered only in November and fruited in December....hence the confusion.
Sending a few photographs.
Look like Desmodium congestum
I find two species with the same name as per link (http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/search?q=Desmodium+congestum+):
Which one is the posted species ?
It does not look like Leptodesmia congesta Baker (= Desmodium congestum (Wight) Benth., Nicolsonia congesta Wight), which is illustrated at http://plantillustrations.org/illustration.php?id_illustration=34985&mobile=0&code_category_taxon=
It is also not Desmodium congestum Wight & Arn. (= Dendrolobium triangulare (Retz.) Schindl.), as per the diagram at http://www.plantillustrations.org/illustration.php?id_illustration=129728&mobile=0&code_category_taxon=
So I guess the ID is still unresolved?! The inflorescence doesn't look like 'congested'. To me it somewhat resembles D. heterocarpon but not sure.
I agree with ... It matches with images at Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC.

It looks close to Desmodium heterocarpon. Let's await for more comments.
Agreed with ... ID. I was about to respond this. I will upload my collections soon.
Yes ... I think you are right. I was slightly confused about sessile pod. After seeing the illustration on eFlora of China I realized that it refers to almost absence of stipe above calyx and not direct absence of pedicel.
yes even i guess Desmodium heterocarpon
I too think that ... is correct with the id.

Does not look like Desmodium triquetrum (now Tadehagi triquetrum) as leaves are trifoliate and petiole is not winged.
I am not able to decide whether it is Desmodium or Uraria. Fruits may help.

Leaves are simple and petiole is winged in D. triquetrum.

Sharing some pictures for ID shot at Pashupati Forest Kathmandu Nepal today (17.10.16) at 4400 ft.
Desmodium species, may be D. heterocarpon
Desmodium multiflorum DC. ??
Confusion about leaf size !

Looks different from Desmodium multiflorum DC.
Pl. check Desmodium microphyllum (Thunb.) DC.

Legume shape size is completely different from D. microphyllum !
Rather, I guess matches with D. multiflorum.
Small size of leaflets is creating doubts about D. multiflorum:
Shrubs, erect, 1-2 m tall, yellow to white pubescent, becoming glabrescent. Leaves 3-foliolate; petiole 1.5-4 cm, densely tomentose; terminal leaflet blade elliptic or obovate, 5-10 × 3-6 cm, base cuneate or nearly rounded, apex obtuse or acute, mucronate.
As per Flora of Pakistan:
Erect shrub, branches grey silky. Leaf trifoliolate, petiole 2.5-6.5 cm long, leaflets 7.5-10 cm long, c. 5 cm broad, ovate or obovate, rounded at both ends, mucronate, glabrescent above, densely appressed hairy below; stipules c. 7.5 mm long.
This is something else.
It is Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. only as already identified by ... and as rightly placed in efi site.

as this desmodium heterocarpon has been declared here as Sanskritशालपर्णी salaparni. I would like to make it more clear that in Ayurveda the Desmodium gangeticum is used in the name of shaliparni not the heterocarpon species.
Thanks ...
I am in full agreement with your thoughts. Desmodium gangeticum is the only शालपर्णी salaparni. If we click on this blue underlined name, it will lead us to a page where I have put the bibliography. I have copy-pasted the contents of the page below. At the bottom, I have put my observation / finding. Henceforth, I will put maroon colour to the names which are ambiguous, but I do need to list the erroneous entries from the sites that have quoted them. Only then the sites may get to know of taking any corrective action. They themselves have depended on OR referred some other source.

Yet another by ...- efi thread 2
... me too think this plant to be Desmodium heterocarpon.
To me also D. heterocarpon. But there is 3 verities are reported in this species. So the proper identification of taxa is difficult here using this picture.
  1. Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. var. gymnocarpum Schindl.
  2. Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. var. heterocarpon Syn: Hedysarum heterocarpon L.; Hedysarum polycarpum Poir. ; Desmodium polycarpum (Poir.) DC.; Desmodium patens Wight

Is this Desmodium triquetrum L(DC). Pl confirm
Leaves are simple and petiole is winged in D. triquetrum.
A photo of fruits would help in identification.
It could be Desmodium heterocarpon.
Agree, D. heterocarpon is a better match.

yes and very nice. I have always wondered when see these fabaceae plants, do local animals eat them? or local people do something with their seeds?

Root powder taken to relieve hyper acidity and its juice cures peptic ulcer. No other usage as such.
that's a lot. very useful to the ethnic people in the hills then
Yes indeed.

Going by the habit, it may rather appears to be more closer to Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC.

¿ Desmodium heterocarpon ?
Dear friends,
I think this could be Desmodium heterocarpon; please validate. These plants were in a small colony on bank of the lake; and they were just about a foot high. The trifoliate leaves have a hint of variegation.

To me also appears close to Desmodium heterocarpon (L.) DC. as per comparative images at Desmodium
