Crotalaria nana Burm. f. at Pasarani ghat early October:
I have identified this species on the basis of it's fruit & other features of genus Crotalaria.
Do not have images of the flower.
Also believe I've got the nomenclature right.
Pasarani ghat is between Wai & Panchgini in Satara district, Maharashtra.
As always, open to correction on all counts.

Fabaceae (Faboideae) Week_ Crotalaria acicularis_ 111111PD05 Flora of Orissa: sending the photograph of Crotalaria acicularis from Ranpur
Name of the species: Crotalaria acicularis
Family: Papilionaceae
Place of collection: Ranpur, Nayagarh, Orissa
Habit: Procumbent Herb
Habitat: Wild, in open grasslands
Altitude: 800m to 1200m above msl
Distribution: Ranpur, Similipal, Mahendragiri,Koraput (Orissa). Anamalei hills and Travancore, Bengal, Bihar
I think this is C. nana.
I was wondering how did I miss this? I had put a label in Gmail with words Papilionaceae and was concentrating on mails with that label. So the mails without this words were missed by me. Responding late due to this. Nice upload indeed.
Thanks a lot ... for the ID. Well its very difficult to distinguish between C, acicularis and C. nana . All characters are very very similar except the height. C. acicularis is 10-50 cm where as C. nana is 10-25 cm (there might be morphological variation due to ecological factors). Mine (up loaded here) is 40 cm in height. So i guess its C.acicularis. I thinks u raised a valid point. I have not yet got the other one. Lets wait for others to respond this.
You may be right ..., but, as far as I know there are (only) two species (at least in peninsular India) having umbel inflorescence, 1. Crotalaria nana and 2. C. umbellata. Your plant has umbel inflorescence, so it could be any of these two.
C. acicularis suppose to have raceme infl. besides having suborbicular-oblong lvs (Ref.: FPM by Gamble) which is not the case here.
Pl verify and correct me if I am wrong.

ID request-21102012-PKA1: Looks like some Crotalaria sp.
Date/Time: 13-10-2012 / 12:00PM
Location
: Tungi Fort, Lonavala region.
Family: Fabaceae
Habitat
: Wild,
Plant habit: Herb, (Leaves and stem hairy).
Leaves alternate with short petiole.
The pods indicate it to be some Crotalaria.
... very nice find, ...
The arrangement of these tiny rattle-pods looks unique - hopefully would get identified soon - eager to know the ID.
I feel the first and the last pic which shows clusters of pods at the apex is a different plant comparde to the 2,3, and 4 pic which shows solitary and paired fruits

It belongs to Crotalaria nana - C. linifolia group, I guess. More details should help. Please also refer 'Crotalaria in India' by A.A.Ansari (2008).
Crotalaria linifolia L.f.
Plant appressed-pubescent
Leaves looking 2.0-4.5cm long, oblong lanceolate, simple, hairy entire. Flowers yellow, Pods small, less than 1cm.
I feel fruit images of Crotalaria linifolia are different as shown below:
In view, I feel images are more closer to images at Crotalaria nana

Its Crotalaria nana Burm.

This could be Crotalaria nana ??.
Date/Time: 13-10-2012 / 12:00PM
Location: Tungi Fort, Lonavala region.
Family: Fabaceae
Habitat: Wild,
Plant habit: Herb, (Leaves and stem hairy).

Leaves alternate with  short petiole.

I do not think this can be C. nana. Inflorescence here is not an umbel as in C. nana.
Will it be possible to ascertain the number of pods in each peduncle ?
It could be Crotalaria linifolia.
Any idea about the number of seeds per pod? It is 8-10 in C. linifolia (pods ca. 5 mm).
