Crotalaria cytisoides Roxb. ex DC., Prodr. 2:131. 1825 (W. Roxburgh, Hort. bengal. 54. 1814, nom. nud.) (Syn: (≡) Priotropis cytisoides (Roxb. ex DC.) Wight & Arn.); Id please A shrub from Lachung,Sikkim 21 May,2013 Crotalaria cytisoides. the pendulous inflorescence is wonderful and a new sight to me. The seedpods surprisingly are flat unlike the regular rattlepod look. Eager to know the ID. Will wait for comments. I hope Piptanthus nepalensis The plant posted here can be Crotalaria cytisoides Roxb. ex DC. This identification credit goes to ... of Nahan, who has been associated with Flora of Himachal Pradesh. I hope the identification is correct. ... to me your plant is new. I was wondering about the pods ... perhaps, here they are juvenile and are yet to assume the typical rattlepod like form. Both suggested IDs are new to me; am sure ... will resolve to correct ID. Frankly I am not convinced about both. The leaflets are oblanceolate with rounded apex in Crotalaria cytisoides (now correctly known as C. tanety), here they are elliptic-lanceolate with clearly acute apex. http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=80713&flora_id=12 At the same time leaves of Piptanthus nepalensis are much narrower, more rigid and calyx white hairy. This is Crotalaria cytosoides, I have already sent the photos of Piptanthes nepalensis. The crotalaria cytisoides is plant of eastern Himalaya where it is planted as fodder. So variation of leaves may be occured. It is previosly reported by Dr. H. B. Naithani from Chakrata. and it may be planted in chile too. The calyx is silky hairy in P.nepalensis and petioles is short as compared to Crotalaria cytosiodes. SK254DEC22-2016:ID : 10 posts by 4 authors.
