Bush for ID : Lalbagh,Bangalore : 010518 : AK-1 : 12 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (5)
Saw this unusual bush or small tree spreading in Lalbagh yesterday (3o.4.18).
There were only pods, no flowers.

This is an introduced species from Africa. Dr. M. Sanjappa identified this to be Acacia robusta subsp. clavigera. One has to consult Fl. Zambiens for confirmation.

Many thanks to you for the suggested id.
Hope to be able to see the flowers sometime later.

In extremely arid conditions, it may occur as a small, wiry bush. It grows up to 21 m (69 ft) in height.[3]
The tree carries leaves that grow to approx. 2.5 cm (1 in) in length with between 4 and 10 pair of pinnae each with up to 15 pairs of leaflets. Flowers are small and white, highly aromatic, and occur in tight clusters. Seeds are produced in pods which are flat and coiled into a springlike structure.
I think Acacia robusta subsp. clavigera (E.Mey.) Brenan as per images and details herein.
