Dioscorea bulbifera : Air potato: This climber is present in large scales near Shedani Devrai Mulshi.
Some climbers were flowering as seen in the picture. The young flowers are white whereas the mature ones turn purple pink. The developing bulbils are also seen in Image 3544 These are some more of mine. Have recently posted photographs of the bulbils, these have more to do with the flowers

This climber is growing in our garden fence at Tala village Bandhavgarh National Park Umariya. M.P. May I request you to please help in ID this climber. Fruits are about 3 cm across at present but grow up to 6 cm across. Very nice pics, this is a Dioscorea sp., may be D. bulbifera.... This seems to be Dioscorea bulbifera. I guess we could begin by looking at the geographical distribution of the species and shortlist the ones for my area/altitude (advanced search on BSI page should work http://efloraindia.nic.in/efloraindia/viewAdvanceSearchPage.action, but somehow on my browser I couldn’t get it to work). Of course there could still be a few to choose from (Collett lists five from Shimla). Following Collett, I thought the specimen I was seeing was closer to D. glabra but since I am a non-botanist too, I seek expert opinion on this.
