Spikelet 7-9 x 4-5 mm, ovoid-obtuse, brown; rachilla narrowly winged. Glumes spiral, 3-3.5 x 1.5-2 mm, obovate-obtuse, many-nerved, with yellowish hyaline margins, 2-3 basal ones empty. Stamen 1; anther 1-1.5 mm long. Style c. 1.5 mm long, flat, linear, slightly broader at base, sparsely ciliate on margins; stigmas 2, c. 0.5 mm long.
