Hooghly sk-nov-12 : Fimbristylis dichotoma (L.) Vahl ? : 4 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (6).
This one again from the same lowland near Uttarpara. A tufted annual, about 1 ft to 2.5 ft tall, photographed on 8/11/14
It looks like a variant of Fimbristylis dichotoma, need a specimen to confirm the identity.

I thought it is belong to Cyperaceae, please conforme
Not Poaceae. It is Cyperaceae
Plz look into cyperaceae family. ? still learning about sedges so no comments regarding identification.

I remember one same of my early days post with this group is pending, it is cyperaceae, please check probability of Fimbristylis dichotoma.
..., please check the centre pic at link
May be Fimbristylis dichotoma as per feedback by ... in another thread.

Cyperus sp. ? from Hooghly:
Found this small patch of grass beside a small ditch inside an uncultivated land.
Species : UNKNOWN
Habit & Habitat : wild herb, approx 8 to 10 inches height, uncultivated land
Date : 21-05-12, 12.42 p.m.
Place : Gobra (Hooghly)
Species of Fimbristylis, I guess. Need specimen to id the species.
It comes under the family Cyperaceae
Yes, ... , yet we call it grass.
However, tried to sort out the identifying characters of the genera of this family at - http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz/tm/scholarly/tei-Bio06Tuat01-t1-body-d5.html, but failed.
Would you please tell me how to differentiate the two genera superficially, Cyprus and Fimbristylis.
It is Fimbristylis and species may be F. bisumbilata
Cyperaceae
are really not grasses but sedges and this one does look like Fimbristylis sp
This is the same species as in efi thread
It can be a variant of Fimbristylis dichotoma. I need a specimen to confirm the identity.
