Cucurbitaceae Week: For id from Morni Hills: This was shot from Morni Hills, Haryana in October 2010, I could never get its growing plant or flowers, though have seen this on many occasions there.....I hope to get hints for its identification.
This last photo gives you an idea of the fruit size...

The angular leaves and fruit size suggests Cucumis sativus var. hardwickii, but not very sure.
... me too eager to know the ID.
The first view is a typical sight on outskirts of villages and cities.
Please also check it for Cucumis prophetarum.

identification no110411sn1:  Kindly identify, taken at Mulshi,Pune.
date/time:march11
habitat:wild
plant habit:may be a shrub
height:about 3 ft.

The fruit in the first picture belongs to Cucumis (may be C. prophetarum), a climber. The climber in the picture is sporting no leaves as they are fallen. The plants in the other two pictures are different, not belonging to the fruit.
I fully agree with ... about the fruit being Cucumis. I had created a lot of confusion with regards to this and ... had handled it with a lot of patience. The plants are as suggested by .. are indeed different. Fruit is not from the plant shown in the pictures.
