Kaas week : Murdannia lanuginosa: Late bloomer in September.
Wow, nice one again. I think locally it is reffered as "Abolima".
The name comes from the colour which resembles colour of Crossandra and which is known as 'Aboli'. The sc. name could have been abolimoides.
To add to this, Shrikant ji has not mentioned this.
But the now extremely popular name 'Abolima' for this plant has been coined by Shrikant ji in his book Flowers of Sahyadri.
Infact there are several such beautiful names coined by him that are now popular.
Yes ..., really interesting.

Kindly identify this Murdannia sp (Commelinaceae)..... Kindly observe the hairy filaments.

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Wild, Montane forest amidst grass.

Sighting: Mullaianagiri, Chikmagalur, about 1700 msl

Date: 04-10-2014, 05-09-2015 and 25-09-2015

This is Murdannia lanuginosa.
Yes it seems Murdannia lanuginosa
Excellent depiction ... Thank you for these beautiful pictures.
