Commelinales & Zingiberales Week: Day Flower: Commelina diffusa - Day Flower
Am not sure but I could see some pubescence upon the spathe in the picture.
Do Commelina diffusa have such hairs on spathe?
in your description, it has a glabrous surface.
thank you ... for neat observations.
This may be close to Commelina paleata Hassk.

I thought this was C.diffusa but now it is suggested as C. erecta. Here is the link https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/7711938. I have just added more pictures for further clarification till then it is a tentative id. I do not see anything about this in Eflora.

Appears to be Commelina paleata!, I wish it has been clicked on well-elevated forest slopes or plateaus?

Where and when was it clicked?
Thanks ... This was photographed at Aambyvalley Rd., Lonavala, Pune on Sept.10 2016

Kokan, Commelina for ID :: ARK2019-48 : 9 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (2)
Saw this Commelina near Devgad, Coastal Kokan, MH in Nov 2012.
Is this Commelina forsskalii??

It's Commelina paleata!!

Thank you … for the ID.
How would one distinguish between C. paleata and C. forskalii?

Description for the flower in http://keralaplants.in/keralaplantsdetails.aspx?id=Commelina_paleata does not match with posted flower.

This has been identified by Mayur Nandikar, who is the expert in India on this genus.
To me also appears close to images at Commelina paleata

Thanks … for validating.
Are there any morphological features which can help us identify this? Commelinas are very confusing.

I too would like to know the characteristics ...... as to how to differentiate it in field from very similar looking Commelina forskaolii. Only difference I can see is hairs on spathe very less, negligible.
