Kindly ID the tree photographs sent as attachments. The leaves have resemblance to Mammea species (M.suriga ?). The tree has been photographed on the outskirts of Mysore city and sent to me by one of my friends.
Calophyllum inophyllum
... must be right, but leaves seem a bit too wide for calophyllum inophyllum, yet I 'm thinking that perhaps they are wider /bigger only because its still a sapling.
It happens
we see it with the Kadam trees in Kolkata everyday
I had even sent in a case here a long time ago
Thanks ...  I will verify the characters.

Please identify this fruit. Unfortunately only unripe fruit is shown here. Ripe fruits seem to be red. The fruit is edible. My friend who took the photo says it may be memecylon. Photo was taken in April 2013 in a jungle in dry part of Eastern Sri Lanka.
It may be a Calophyllum sp.
