MS June, 2017/05 Xylosma longifolium ? for ID/confirmation : 15 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (4) Locagtion : Durtlang (ATC), Mizoram Altitude : ca 1,430 m. Date : 07-06-2017 Habit : Small tree Habitat : Wild I think does not matches with images at Xylosma longifolia https://ramanarunachalam.github.io/Flora-and-Fauna/trees.html I don’t think its Xylosma longifolium I have never seen a thorn and the flowers different Some Ehretia or similar genera ? Could be. However, a close up of flowers would be helpful to narrow down the ID. Looks like some species of Celastraceae It looks like Maytenus heyneana in the absence of fruit, and clear floral characters, -based on the following characters -It looks like Maytenus heyneana armed shrub ; spines straight; leaves 3-8x2-5cm, apex acute, margin serrate; flowers white in axillary dichotomous cymes, It may be a Gymnosporia, but I think we need bigger images. It is certainly not Gymnosporia heyneana (Maytenus hayneana) as that species has a more compact and thicker leaf and inflorescence. The distribution is also southern India. |
