Flora of Chakrata: Silene edgeworthii from Chakrata:  Silene edgeworthii from Chakrata
Identified on the basis of the information provided by ... in an earlier thread
Silene edgeworthii is distinct from S. vulgaris (formerly Silene inflata) in that former has 5 (rarely 4) styles and fimbriate petals whereas latter has 3 styles and deeply bilobed petals. You can clearly see three styles and
deeply lobed petals in atleast two of my flowers. In that respect your plant looks different: style number is not clear (you may try to count by enlarging your original photographs).
Still i have little doubt
Pls validate
S. edgeworthii is however much similar to S. setisperma (Lychnis inflata not to be confused with Silene inflata) which does not have fimbriate petals although calyx looks similar with darker veins http://www.flowersofindia.in/catalog/slides/Himalayan%20Campion.html
S. edgeworthii is, however, now correctly known as  Silene indica var. edgeworthii (Bocquet) Y.J.

A better close up of flower and calyx needed. Please count number of styles also. Looks like Silene indica var. edgeworthii but calyx seems to be glandular hairy.
I am attaching another close-up picture of the plant. I was thinking another plant as Silene indica. Kindly help me identify this plant also.

Vof Week: Silene indica var. edgeworthii (Bocquet) Y.J. Nasir from way to Ghangriya:  Silene indica var. edgeworthii (Bocquet) Y.J. Nasir from way to Ghangriya
I have checked the time of clicks. There seem to be two distinct populations, The one with two lobed petals (and two side teeth) don't seem to be var. edgeworthii. Perhaps a key to Indian varieties of Silene indica should help.
Yes Sir these were two different population. I will separate both now
These pics seems to be different. May be any other variety. waiting for comments
Description matches with S. indica var. indica, but lobes are much narrower and longer. We may have to check Indian treatment on Silene.

To me also appear close to images at Silene indica var. edgeworthii

wow, ... you are really using the website. i love it
Nice images. How big are flower size. Mine still ID pending.
Yes, this time around, I had a look at all the VOF pics on the efi site (area by area - such as Govindghat - Ghangaria, Hemkund, VOF, Mana, Auli etc.)
And then tried to match my pics with them. It was a very enjoyable time, well spent.
I did the tour twice, once physically in August 2018 and them pictorially (through efi) in September.

Superb upload ! Very beautiful flowers.
Silene indica var.edgeworthii ???
I remember to have seen this plant long back.
Thank you ... So far ID is kept as Silene indica Roxb. ex Otth only.
Looks different from Silene indica as per images herein.
Yes, appears close to Silene indica var. edgeworthii as per images and details herein.
Thank you ...
Shall we keep them as separate sp. like my last years' post ?
Silene indica var. edgeworthii (Bocquet) Y.J.Nasir
Yes, as there is substantial difference between the two.
POWO even recognised it as a separate species i.e. Silene edgeworthii Bocquet.
But GBIF, CoL and IPNI says syn of Silene indica!
