Flora of Chakrata: Silene edgeworthii from Chakrata: Silene edgeworthii from Chakrata Identified on the basis of the information provided by ... in an earlier thread “Silene edgeworthii is distinct from S. vulgaris (formerly Silene inflata) in that former has 5 (rarely 4) styles and fimbriate petals whereas latter has 3 styles and deeply bilobed petals. You can clearly see three styles and deeply lobed petals in atleast two of my flowers. In that respect your plant looks different: style number is not clear (you may try to count by enlarging your original photographs). Still i have little doubt Pls validate Yes S. vulgaris is very distinct http://www.flowersofindia.in/catalog/slides/Bladder%20Campion.html S. edgeworthii is however much similar to S. setisperma (Lychnis inflata not to be confused with Silene inflata) which does not have fimbriate petals although calyx looks similar with darker veins http://www.flowersofindia.in/catalog/slides/Himalayan%20Campion.html S. edgeworthii is, however, now correctly known as Silene indica var. edgeworthii (Bocquet) Y.J. Nasir<http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-50312911> syn: Silene edgeworthii Bocquet; Lychnis indica var. fimbriata Edgew. & Hook. f.; Lychnis fimbriata (G.
