Kailash-Manasarovar Yatra::Wild flower for ID NSJ - OCT 16/20 : 5 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2)
Wild flower for ID. Photo taken at Garbyang (Near Gunji) Uttarakhand. Height 11000 feet. Aug 16, 2016.
Seems to be Erysimum.  I know of E.melicentae which honours Millicent Wathen, wife of the former principal of the Khalsa College, Amritsar, who painted many Kashmir flowers (incl. in Blatter's 'Beautiful Flowers of Kashmir'). But this, though showy, is supposed to be only yellow.
I do not have any check-list covering Uttarakund, so there may well be species of this genus not found in the NW Himalaya.  However, the images are certainly close to a photo in 'Himalayan Plants Illustrated' by Yoshioka - who uses the name E.flavum subsp. altaicum.  Dickore & Klimes list 3 species of Erysimum from Ladakh.  Of these, there is E.altaicum - which Stewart lists but not from Ladakh. Images of E.flavum on the internet are close to these.
This is just a preliminary look. Would welcome input from others. Erysimum altaicum is the currently accepted name.

Thanks a lot, ... I think these also appear close to images at Erysimum cuspidatum (M.Bieb.) DC. in efi, reported a lot from Uttarakhand.
There is no posting of Erysimum altaicum so far in efi.
Erysimum cuspidatum is not an accepted name in 'The Plant List' but is given as a synonym of E.hieraciifolium.
This species is common in N.Pakistan and Kashmir @ 1500-3000m and occurs in Ladakh.
'Flowers of the Himalaya' include this aggregate (which is highly variable) as a cornfield weed and on open slopes as having terminal clusters of bright orange flowers - the flowers c. 1cm across.
They observed that further research is needed into the Himalayan forms of this plant - recorded from Pakistan to SE Tibet and Temperate Eurasia.
The images do not match well the herbarium specimen from Nepal at Kew:
But I am uncertain. May well require further study - unless there is anyone with special expertise for this genus?
Thanks, ..., for pointing out.
I have now corrected the efi page at Erysimum hieracifolium
It has distribution in India as per  BSI Flora of India  Flowers of India  India Biodiversity Portal
