Does anyone remember the Bush-broccoli connection. Bush senior said 'I hate that vegetable. Send them to Barbara, she likes them' and banned them on Air Force One. The Air Force One kitchen had a placard that said 'broccoli-free zone' or some such thing. As a protest, the farmers sent a huge consignment to the White House!

Brassicaceae Week: Brassica oleracea 'Romanesco' from California--a fractal food that defies taxonomy:
I am inaugurating the Brassicaceae Week with an interesting vegetable photographed today from Farmer's market in Mountain view, California.
Brassica oleracea 'Romanesco'
A fractal food that defies taxonomy
Taxonomists are not able to decide whether to classify it under var. botrytis (cauliflower) or var. italica (broccoli)
Who knows we may soon find it in Indian markets (or it may have already reached?)
Photographed in Mountain view Farmers' Market, California
in NY it was Broccoli... in the upscale food markets or farmers' markets... regardless of what the taxonomists come up with...
FRACTAL adjective is so apt, one of the educated farmer had once labelled his with the word.... before the days of my digital camera going with me everywhere.
Thanks for taking pictures of this...
