T. rosea : 2 posts by 2 authors. In T. rosea species itself, is there a drastic colour variation. In some places of Chennai, the flowers are almost white whereas in some places they are a nice pink
T. rosea is a large-growing forest tree with dull, rather heavily-veined leaves.
T. heterophylla  is a small to medium-sized tree with smooth-margined, glossy foliage. It is far more commonly used as an ornamental tree, at least in FL and Hawaii, USA, where both species grow. It shows considerable variation in flower color.
Close-ups of foliage would be helpful to determine ID here.

Kindly wait for confirmation.
Tabebuia rosea for me also, as suggested by ...
pink flowers... I too am looking for the ID...thanks for submitting.... trees in my neighborhood just finished flowering... fruits are fully matured by june... and heavy rains bring them down....
This could be ...........Tabebuia pentaphylla
Can it be Tabebuia rosea-alba ? . The flowers are pinkish white. Leaves are palmately divided into 5 unequal leaflets, pointed tips. Do I need to check any other feature of the tree?
At the out set beautiful set of photographs. Thanks for sharing. For me also looks like Tabebuia rosea
I do not know this tree and neither i could find any Bengali name. A search tells me that this can be Tabebuia rosea (Bertol.) DC, = T. pentaphylla auct. I'm not sure if it can be alba variety. Please check -

''For Id 17012012MR1’’ is it Tabebuia rosea flowering at Pune: 16th Jan 2012 along roadside on Pune Nagar road at Pune
Is it Tabebuia rosea in bloom. Please validate
On 10th Jan 2012 I had posted a tree which was Idd as Tabebuia rosea. It had very few flowers. Yesterday I was lucky to spot another tree which had many flowers and few leaves. It was a beautiful sight. There was one flower which had fallen on the ground.
Yes ... Nice pics, this tree is Tabebuia rosea.
Tabebuia impetiginosa - Rose Trumpet Tree
I just realised taht there is also tabebuia rosea alba with white flowers. There was another similar tree next to the one I have posted but with white flowers. I assumed that these will turn pink eventually but on second thoughts I think it may not be so. I regret not to have photographed it.
Tabebuia rosea indeed.

The tree crown is wide, with irregular, stratified ramification and only few thick branches.
The bark can be gray to brown, in varying darkness and may be vertically fissured.
Leaves are compound, digitate and deciduous. Each leaf has five leaflets of variable size, the middle one being the largest.
Flowering occurs mainly in January and February, and is generally associated with dry periods; although flowering has also been observed in August, September, April and May. Flowers are large, in various tones of pink to purple, and appear while the tree has none, or very few, leaves.
Pollination occurs probably by insects, although the flowers are visited by many birds such as tanagers, hummingbirds and orioles.
The long and slender fruit capsules can measure up to 35 cm (14 in) and appear from February through April. After the drying fruit dehisces, the anemochorous, hyaline-membrane-winged seeds are released. There are an average of 45,000 seeds per kg with up to 13% water content.
Germination of seeds is extremely easy and efficient, reaching almost 100%.
It is a fairly fast growing tree.

The picture of the fruits falling are amazing!

Beautiful blooming trees, the Tabebuias are small, 15 to 25-foot tall, evergreen trees with silvery foliage and deeply furrowed, silvery bark on picturesque, contorted branches and trunk. The crown is usually asymmetrical with two or three major trunks or branches dominating the crown.
The leaves are narrow and elongated, an identifying feature of the tree. Sporadically throughout the year, they put on a brilliant display composed of a multitude of two to three-inch-long, golden yellow, trumpet-shaped blooms borne in terminal flower clusters. The leaves often drop just before the flowers appear.
Even without the flowers this Tabebuia is a magnificent tree with its crooked trunk, corky bark, and silvery leaves. This Tabebuia is very easy to grow and bloom and its only drawback is its soft wood, making it very susceptible to damage during strong winds.
Tabebuia caraiba can be also be grown in containers, specially small ones, which eventually can turn the tree into a large bonsai specimen

Flowering season is Mar-Apr in bangalore
another very pleasant colored flower... favorite...
The correct name from GRIN is
Handroanthus impetiginosus
Syn
Tabebuia impetiginosa
Syn. Tabebuia avellanedae

Really a beautiful tree to watch when flowering.
It is often difficult to to differentiate Tabebuia impetiginosa from Tabebuia rosea.
My observation in Pune.
T.impetiginosa flowers in two bouts one in Nov. and second time in Dec with a gap of 2-3 weeks. T. rosea flowers later in Jan-Feb
T.impetiginosa flowers in a massive scale on a leafless tree which is not the case with T.rosea with some leaves often visible on the tree when in flower which are paler.
This should be Tabebuia heterophylla as per

Can it be Tabebuia avellanedae ?

Thanks, ... Tabebuia avellanedae Lorentz ex Griseb. is a syn. of Handroanthus impetiginosus, which is different from Tabebuia heterophylla

The flowers have a yellow throat.
Fruit is 18 cm long, green and smooth.

Kindly help Id this tree of 70-80 ft growing in a bungalow at Pune
It has white flowers with pink tinge and I think they become pink as they age
The bungalow gate was closed and no one seemed to live there. These are all the pics I could get
Please refer my following thread for a full bloomed tree with pink looking flowers as I cannot post the same pictures in 2 different threads
I think close to images at Tabebuia rosea (Bertol.) Bertero ex A.DC.

Requesting to please ID this Tabebuia species captured in Jijamata Udyan, Mumbai in January 2014.
Is it Tabebuia heterophylla

How do you ID a Tabebuia? Acuminate tip suggests T. rosea?
efi page on Tabebuia rosea
Description of 3 species can be found -
  1. http://ecflora.cavehill.uwi.edu/vhdetail.php?did=2342&sn=Tabebuia+pallida and http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/detailsQuery.do?barcode=K000449889
  2. http://www.kew.org/ucm/idcplg?IdcService=SS_QD_GET_RENDITION&coreContentOnly=1&dDocName=KPPCONT_056574&dID=79426
  3. and http://www.hear.org/pier/imagepages/singles/vchr_bish_613427.htm
  4. http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/detailsQuery.do?barcode=K000449882 and http://apps.kew.org/herbcat/detailsQuery.do?barcode=K000449881
It is interesting to note that while PIER informs T. rosea have leaves with 5 leaflets (3-5 in other two species) with "acute to tapering apex" (and photos available at http://www.natureloveyou.sg/Tabebuia%20rosea/Main.html and http://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/Tabebuia_rosea.htm do support that) the herbarium at KEW doesn't support that.
I am very confused!
