Could the possibility be Jacaranda obtusifolia ssp. rhombifolia (syn. Jacaranda filicifolia) ?

Book - Some Beautiful Indian Trees, by Ethelbert Blatter & Walter Samuel Millard, BNHS, Oxford Unversity Press (1977)

I travel 25 km. daily to reach my school and all along the road I have seen only one Jacaranda tree so far.
Nice reporting  ...
Very common avenue tree in Mysore city. This is the flowering season (4.2.12). The trees are in full bloom here, as well.
Thank you ... My colleagues who also travel more than 10km. from different places also confirmed that they never saw this tree here. I am happy to learn that this is common in Mysore.

Originating in Brazil , it is widely grown in tropical climates.
Quite popular in southern US and most tropical countries including India, though it does not put up a spectacular show in Calcutta, as spectacular as is seen in xeriscaping areas of the world… because in presence high rainfall the leaves appear before the flowers, otherwise afterwards, allowing the flowers to shine, as in these pictures from San Diego California in 2008.
I thought it was funny that I happened to have stopped to take pictures of the street trees on India Street in San Diego that day. It has struck me as funny since I had vaguely connected Jacaranda to India, since in 1946 AP Benthall had written in his book The Trees of Calcutta ( pg 342) that “ this very beautiful tree is a native of Bengal” but he contradicts himself on pf 341 by stating correctly that the name originates in Brazil… … so the pic of India Street is just that, not indicative of point of origin…. Well!! so much for fun.
And to think that AP Benthall was a son of a famous botanist apparently.
And even though it is very extensively planted for xeriscaping, producing tonnes of pollen, it does not seem to have created an epidemic of allergic reactions….

Digital age is wonderful , isn't it
these pics were taken with a sony non-dslr... yet came out ok
and in the 80s we used to think digital was just a passing fancy!!! how wrong we were...
I am happy to get your words of appreciation

Bignoniaceae Week :: Jacaranda mimosifolia, D.Don <=> Blue Jacaranada Tree - Bangalore - RA:  The Jacarandas are impressive trees in March when covered with clusters of blue tubular flowers. The ground below them turns rapidly blue, and some gardeners might object to that quantity of litter. A variety 'Alba' with white flowers, and denser foliage, is occasionally available.
Native to Brazil growing to 50' or larger. Moderate to fast growth during warm season.
Bi-pinnately compound leaves hold till late in winter. Can be completely winter deciduous in colder areas.
Flowers in spring are trumpet like lavender and 2" long by 1 1/2" wide. There are white and pink also.
If the tree is given too much water, the leaves appear first, somewhat spoiling the startling effect of the flowers.
The flowers are followed by woody, disc-shaped seed pods.

Very well-illustrated upload.

03/07/2013 taken at 7.30pm - still a lot of light at that time - enough to be able to take a reasonable shot.
I found the bunch of pods interesting - do not recall seeing Jacaranda pods in clusters in Bangalore!
Nice posting from US. Hope to see many more. Do visit San Francisco botanical garden if possible.
Thank you, ... I have several pictures of interesting plants - wild & garden flowers, a few trees -  from the US- Los Altos, California; Vienna, Virginia & New York. Was waiting to get back so i could start posting....
yes,i'm back in Bangalore..:)
I had visited The Golden Gate Park on an earlier visit - 2004 - did not own a digital camera then.

The other striking tree on the roadsides is the Blue Jacaranda. I like driving to the lower areas in the spring/early summer where I can see several flowering trees which are absent from higher altitudes. I am eagerly waiting for the Indian Laburnum (Cassia fistula) to bloom here.
