Tabebuia's of Bangalore - RA - Tabebuia rosea - Pink Trumpet Tree:
Native to continental America, Pink trumpet is a tall, fast-growing tree reaching 25 to 30 m high and 1 m d.b.h. The crown is wide, stratified, and irregular, with a few thick, horizontal branches; the bole is straight, sometimes channeled at base. Leaves are palmately divided into 5 unequal leaflets. The oval/oblong leaflets have a rough-to-touch surface, entire margin and a pointed tapering tip. The central leaflet is larger than the rest. The leaflet size is variable between 3-18 inches. Flowering occurs between December and February, when the tree bursts into panicles of pink trumpet shaped flowers with yellow throats. In his recent book Trees of Delhi, Pradip Krishen has identified it as Tabebuia impetiginosa. However, our observation agrees with the traditional view of Tabebuia rosea.

They flower in Nov and Jan in Bangalore
And pods come in Dec and Jan
spectacular...
wonder why we dont plant it in Kolkata??
Such a beauty !! Thanks ... for showing these lovely pics. Exactly ... thinking on a same line ..for Pune.
T.impetiginosa and T.rosea are flowering in Pune too. Season of the first one nearly over that for the second one just started. Pune and Bangalore have a lot of similarities; also that for trees !!
As per the specimen seen at NBRI, Lucknow the tree appears close to T. palmeri. Thanks for beautiful pictures.
I don't know what should I call it now rosea or palmeri
It is Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos.

Handroanthus impetiginosus, (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos <=> Pink Trumpet Tree - Bangalore - RA: The Pink Lapacho is a rather large deciduous tree, with trunks sometimes reaching 8 dm width and 30 m height. Usually a third of that height is trunk, and two thirds are its longer branches. It has a large, globous, but often sparse canopy. The tree has a slow growth rate.
Leaves are opposite and petiolate, 2 to 3 inches long, elliptic and lanceolate, with lightly serrated margins and pinnate venation. The leaves are palmately compound with usually 5 leaflets.
Its bark is brownish grey, tough and hard to peel.
The wood is of a pleasant yellowish colour, barely knotted and very tough and heavy (0,935 kg/dm続). It's rich in tannins and therefore very resistant to weather and sun[. It is not very useful for furniture since it is so hard to work by hand. It can be found as beams or fulfilling other structural uses where needed outdoors.

what about Tabebuia avellanedae ?
Thanks for possible ids.
Are Tabebuia impetiginosa and Tabebuia avellanedae Syn or two different species?
Now as per the ' theplantlist' it is Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos
Tabebuia impetiginosa, Tabebuia avellanedae are synonyms.
Thanks for the correct name.
According to my understanding from one of ... post, These bloom during the winter months, and Tabebuia rosea during summer.

Bignoniaceae tree for ID :: JUL2018 MK005 : 9 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (7)
Please help in identifying this Bignoniaceae tree. Is this a Dolichandrone?
Leaves pubescent on both sides; fruits 30 cm long
Habitat: Garden
Place: Hosur, Tamilnadu
Altitude: 900 m asl
Date: 15 June 2018

No. It is quite different. Leaves are pinnate in Dolichandrone.  My guess is it could be a  species of Handroanthus/ TabebuiaBut unable to confirm in the absence of flowers/ fruits.

You are on the right track, ...
I found a leaf pic thats almost a look alike of pic number 5
and a short write up as to how differentiate the two you chose in
both are from a singapore gov parks site. so essentially it boils down to waiting for the flowers.
yellow trumpet flowers in hot weather in Bengal.
so may be we have to wait. because of monsoon???
Please find attached another view of fruits. They resemble ripen Drumsticks.

i am glad because the Singapore site was showing long seedpods (longer than those in your original pics)
had me wondering about my search results. now we can compare really.
I agree with ...  A nice research work by you madam.

Thank you, it was based on your choices. yes it took a part of the post lunch slump.

I think close to images at Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos. as per comparative images at Bignoniaceae

Yes ... You are right ! Nevertheless let us wait for the photographs of the flowers to confirm. The tree flowers only during December !

Tabebuia rosea MS010511 - 5Beautiful ornamental tree, common in Mysore city.  Photos taken on 13.1.11. The flowers remain on tree unfaded only for a week (maximum).  During this time it is a treat to eyes for the passersby.
Flowers are in terminal globose clusters and dark pink. It is most likely Handroanthus impetiginosus syn.Tabebuia impetiginosa syn Tabebuia avellanedae. The flowers of T.rosea are pink fading to white and the flowering season is Feb. March. This tree is also flowering in Pune city at many places at present. Mostly the flowering has been observed in Nov and Dec but this year it was late.

Can you please mention the place where you got this beauty
Solanum which I have displayed is a big shrub or say a small tree. Two such trees are known to me in my city Pune in Maharashtra One in SP College campus and the other on Kanchan galli off Law college road. The Salix tetrasperma is a tree which grows on the banks of running river bed, the one shown  by me is Near Garware college and can best be observed from the two wheeler bridge. The Tabebuia avelandi trees: one on Baner road two are off Karve road Two on road just near the gates of New Symbiosis school. All these pictures are from Pune

Goa, january 2019.

Difficult with these images.
To me looks different from images of Tabebuia rosea (Bertol.) Bertero ex A.DC.

According to "Trees & shrubs of India" (P.Sachdeva and V.Tongbram. Prakash Books) it seems like it's Tabebuia impetiginosa. Thank you ...

Tabebuia rosea in FOI : 3 posts by 2 authors.
Images of Tabebuia rosea in FOI should be of Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos. as per images and details herein.
These look different from those at Tabebuia rosea (Bertol.) Bertero ex A.DC.
Pl. correct.

Thanks ..., Corrected on the site now.
