without type.; Begonia rubrovenia Hook.; Platycentrum rubrovenium (Hook.) Klotzsch); Assam; Bangladesh; East Himalaya; Myanmar; Nepal; Thailand; Vietnam as per Catalogue of Life; Rhizomatous. Stems 10-30cm. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 7-15x3-7cm, acuminate, base ± obliquely rounded, scarcely cordate, margin subentire or ± distantly dentate, pubescent on veins beneath; petioles 3-12cm; stipules ovate, up to 20x10mm, acuminate, persistent. Peduncles c 10cm, bearing a few flowers terminally; bracts similar to stipules. Outer perianth segments ovate, c 10x7mm, inner ones c 6x4mm, pink or white, streaked pink. Stamens numerous; connective produced. Capsule c 12x6mm, becoming reflexed, largest wing oblong, c 15x10mm. Fl. May-October. Wet, rocky river banks and shaded forests (attributions- A.J.C.
