Family: Begoniaceae
Habit: sub-shrub
Characteristic feature: adaxial (under-side) reddish

Habitat: edges of pathways in wet forests; especially on rocky crevices and rocks
Dear all, is this identification right? please correct me if I am wrong.
This is Begonia dipetala var dipetala and not B. malabarica. Begonia malabarica is an endemic species in Kerala. All the names published under the name B. malabarica from other part of India need a careful study.
In fact, B. malabarica was based on Rheede's Tsjeria-narinampuli. It was validated by Lamark. It is an endemic species of kerala.

Thank you ..., what are the peculiar character that diffrentiate B.dipetala from B.malabarica? As you said, it is being reported from TN too.

With only two petals seen in all the flowers, this should be Begonia dipetala.
