Date/Time- 20 Nov 2010 Location- Place, Altitude, GPS- Roadside Pune Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type- Wild Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb- herb Height/Length- 2 feet height Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- Lower leaves lobed encircling stem. Alternate Crenate Serrate Inflorescence Type/ Size- As in picture Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- 1.5cm bright yellow. Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- Not observed - This herb is more likely to be Sonchus oleraceus L. (Annual Sow-Thistle). The leaves in S. asper are glossy, with spiny margins. Wild Herb for ID : Nasik : 261011 : AK-1: A small wild herb found at Gangajal Nursery, Nasik on the 3rd of Jan, 2008. Yellow flowers seen. Does not seem to match with images at Sonchus wightianus DC. You may check with images at Sonchus oleraceus (L.) L. For me the ID by ... is correct i.e. Sonchus oleraceus. I am putting up once again due to my ignorance and to clarify. I have posted Sonchus oleraceus L. shot at same location which is completely different than this one.
