This is a common undershrub found in rural roadside. It is also used as natural fence to guard frontyard or some cultivated garden plants. Could it be a Eupatorium sp.?
Species : UNKNOWN
Habit & Habitat : wild undershrub (?) of about 5 ft. height, roadside
Date : 08-04-2012, 10.30 a.m.
Place : Tarakeswar (Hooghly), WB
Nice pics, should be a Vernonia sp. in my opinion....
Google searched for various Vernonia species, Ageratum & some others for 2 hrs. but no avail !
This is also a very common species. Villagers sometimes use this plant to build a natural boundary wall around their homeyard.
i was wondering if it was Eupatorium species too
Any chance of Ethulia conyzoides L.f. - http://www.meemelink.com/prints_pages/18429.Compositae%20-%20Vernonia%20madagascariensis.htm ???
I think Pluchea indica (L.) Less., as per efi site link:
https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/a---l/ar/asteraceae/pulchea/pulchea-indica
Thank you very much for the ID and thanks to ... too.
Also attaching some recent pics, recorded on 18/10/12.
Though leaves of this species are more densely dentate than the ones in the above two links outside India, it is possible ID.
