This one was shot from agriculture field borders in Panipat, I hope this one is Acmella ciliata (Kunth) Cassini.... as this was earlier uploaded and got identified.. I hope to get validation/correction.. thanks ... for well-illustrated upload. This herb was growing near a water channel in agricultural fields in Panipat, shot in November 2010. I believe this is Spilanthes, wish to know which species this is, please. - Yes .. , most species now placed under Acmella This I think is Acmella ciliata Acmella ciliata from Panipat: This one is Acmella ciliata (Kunth) Cassini in F. Cuvier, Dict. Sci. Nat. 24: 331. 1822; Spilanthes ciliata Kunth. Was photogrpahed in August 2011 from a village border near Panipat. Nice Shots Dear. I think these are from Jatal Bhador Forest area Yes, you are right.. Nice pictures. We have this in Botany Department Garden, Delhi University. Spilanthes oleracea L. is a common herb in Tarai area in moist localities. Species of Spilanthes (=Acmella) are known as Desi Akarkara, an important ingredient in Ayurvedic preparation. Photographed at Pantnagar. Not S. oleracea. It is Acmella ciliata Asteraceae Week (Part I - Radiate heads) :: ¿ Acmella uliginosa ? for validation, at Yeoor Hills :: 16 DEC 09 02:03 :: DV41 : (2 + 3) images. 7 posts by 3 authors. please validate this to be Acmella uliginosa; the plant is growing by road-side - scrub vegetation on waste ground. In this case, the leaves - especially basal - are larger, broader compared to those in my earlier post ... perhaps owing to difference in habitat. at Yeoor Hills, Thane on 16 DEC 09 Seems very likely...thanks ... A better view of leaf base should help, also close up of head. The cropped pictures attached; hopefully it helps. I am inclined to take it as A. ciliata 1. Leaves are broader and appear ovate, not gradually narrowed at base. 2. Shape of heads is typical of A. ciliata 3. Close up of head though not very clear suggests pentamerous disc florets. Attached images may be Acmella ciliata (Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth) Cassini. Please validate the ID. Date :.2013 Location: Kamrup district Family : Asteraceae Genus & species : Acmella ciliata (Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth) Cassini Habitat: Grows wild on road side, near drain etc Habit : Herb Inflorescence : Radiate head, peduncle long Yes ... A. ciliata mainly differs from A. uliginosa is broader head, pentamerous flowers and rounded to cordate leaf base. Thanks Gurcharan ji for the differences. To expand....... The disc florets are 4-merous in A.uliginosa 5-merous in A.ciliata I had seen this herb at Mizoram and also at Shillong. Looks like some Acmella sp. Acmella ciliata I hope.
