Hard to say. Is it from western ghats? It looks like Calamus thwaitesii, but I am not certain
Thanks, ... Yes, it appears to be from Western Ghats.
Definitely from the Western Ghats sir. Specifically, a deciduous forest lying within Aralam WLS Sanctuary, Kerala which is bordered by Nagarhole National Park, Wyanad WLS and Brahmagiri WLS.

Perhaps Daemonorops crinitus Blume
I think Daemonorops is a correct choice. However, I've forwarded the photos to .. of ATREE, Bangalore who is working on Rattans of India. He is also an eFlora member. Waiting to hear from him.
This is certainly not Daemonorops crinita but with the information sent I cannot say exactly what it is - I would need to see a climbing stem - and, of course, inflorescences would help!
Where is the specimen from? Difficult to say what it is from the images, but if its from southwestern India its probably Calamus thwaitesii
Thanks, ... Yeah, it's in SW India:
Agumbe (Kannada: ಆಗುಂಬೆ) is a small village located in Shimoga district, Thirthahalli taluk in the Malnad region of Karnataka, India. It is sometimes called "The Cherrapunji of the South" after Cherrapunji, in Northeast India.[2]

Calamus FOR ID :: Anshi Ghat :: 25 MAY 2013 : 11 posts by 4 authors. 8 images.
Anshi Ghat ... Karnataka Date: 25 MAY 2013 ... Altitude: 340 - 380 m asl. Calamus sp. ... (family: Arecaceae)
Dear friends,
I am afraid these pictures may not facilitate any ID to species level. Yet, I am taking a chance if someone familiar with rattans can recognize this species. Since there was no flowering then, the so many pictures below, they all look alike - because they are showing only fruits !!

Calamus thwaitesii ??

Not at all confident ...
Possibilities are Calamus pseudotenuis / thwaitesii var. canaranus / karnatakensis / lacciferus / lakshmanae / metzianus
I have not done any comparing.

there's a cane in the fourth picture. perhaps that's what we have to dissect for features
and may be the fruits. but that cane is the key
Pattern on fruits and inflorescence appears similar in structure.
Thanks very much ... I too was thinking of Calamus thwaitesii.
Since I my pictures are not offering sufficient aspects, I think I will leave it at Calamus sp.
At facebook, few suggestions of Calamus rotang came up.
Let us settle at Calamus sp. for want of better pictures.
Thanks, ..., Let us find keys and differences between the two.
Yes, I think it could be Calamus thwaitesi

Many thanks to … for his thoughts.
Thanks … for the follow-up.
Let us hope we reach ID from keys and from any tell-tale characteristic from the pictures.

I got a very good document for study along with keys:
FIELD IDENTIFICATION KEY FOR RATTANS OF KERALA (pdf)- by C. renuka (2000)- 34 pages.
MORPHOLOGICAL, ANATOMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF CALAMUS SPECIES OF KERALA FORESTS by C.renuka, K M bhat and V P K Nambiar (1987)- 58 pages.
I studied 2nd for the purpose of this post. Fruit matches with Calamus thwaitesii. This cane grows in evergreen, semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests between 75 to 900 m throughout the Habit Western Ghats. The distribution extends to Sri Lanka also.
For Calamus rotang:
This species is restricted to the plains along coastal regions and backwaters. Usually seen in the sacred groves and coastal regions of Alappuzha and Kollam Districts. It is reported from Sri Lanka also.
Thank you very very much … for this determined follow-up to resolve the ID.
I will label my pictures accordingly.
Thank you very much for links to useful reference material, and for the crisp information.
