Seems to be Hemidesumus Really not Hemidesmus. I too think its Hemidesmus it is Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens. I agree with ..., the description matches well with Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens.
I wish to share the 3 varieties of Hemedsmus indicus-yellow flowered; Hemidesmus pubescens 2 varieties at E.ghats. the yellow centered variety- leaves and flower are smaller than complete maroon variety. Thanks a lot, ..., How come The Plant List states as below ?: Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter, Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 88: 565 2001. (Syn: Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens Hook.f.; Hemidesmus pubescens Wight & Arn.; Hemidesmus wallichii Wight); Is it correct ? F- Finlaysonia; H-Hemidesmus The plant list gave Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens and H.pubescens as synonyms; but in my observation, there are some differences with Finlaysonia The F=1 bark with prominent longitudinal ridges-glabrous 2. hairs-H. dirty white to copper colored-hairs white, 3. floral buds –corolla lobes overlapping anticlock-wise- in H. it is valvate 4. flower bowl shaped-no, H. star shaped. 5. Leaves petiolate; petiole (3–)5–10 x 3–4 mm,-H. less tha 3mm; 6. blade oblong-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 96–125(–154) x 12–15(–25) mm, herbaceous, sparsely scabrid- H. elliptic, coriaceous to scabrid; 46x2-3.5cm; 7. apices acute to attenuate, base rounded, rarely cuneate, margin revolute and wavy, venation brochidodromous, 15–22 secondary veins on either side of main vein,- H. base cordate; margin entire, apex emarginated with a mucro; secondary veins 6-8; 8. Corona lobes rod-shaped- H. not rod shaped; 9. Corolla margin membranous;- H. margin as thick as innerpart. Hence we need not completely honour the plant list. it needs some revision. I consider it as another variety of Hemidesmus only; which I wish to publish. A.M. VENTER; Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter in Venter & R.L. Verh., Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden 88: 565 (2001). Basionym: Hemidesmus wallichii Wight, Contributions to the Botany of India: 63 (1834) In 2001, Venter made a new combination in the name of Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter by including Hemidesmus wallichii [not H. indicus] Wight as basionym and Atherolepis wallichii (Wight) Hook.f. and Atherandra wallichii (Wight) Benth. as synonyms. He never included H. pubescens or H. indicus var. pubescens as synonym to F. wallichii. The same treatment is followed by Tropicos. F. wallichii (= H. wallichii) is "restricted to Myanmar" and does not occur in India. The Plant List quotes Tropicos (record 2603979) as the source reference for the inclusion of H. pubescens as synonym under F. wallichii. But, the particular record of Tropicos only says that Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens (Wight & Arn.) Hook. f. is a synonym of Hemidesmus pubescens Wight & Arn. Finlaysonia wallichii is not in the picture here. Therefore, the listing of Hemidesmus pubescens Wight & Arn. as a synonym of Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter in The Plant List page is probably due to an (yet another) erroneous linking of records. Venter's key to genera can be found in this BHL page. Here is the Tropicos page for F. wallichii. Bangalore outskirts November 15th 2014 May be Hemidesmus indicus Agree with ... Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens. Good pictures!Accepted name according to The Plant List- Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter Hemidesmus indicus var. pubescens is not a syn. of Finlaysonia wallichii (Wight) Venter.
