Habit: A small succulent herb, upto 70cm 
Flower- Solitary or terminal racemes; brown to dark purple. Flowering November-March.
Fruit- An oblong-linear follicle, apically beaked; seeds oblong-obovate, with brownish coma. Fruiting December onwards.
Field tips- Branchlets obtusely angled, tapering at apex, latex watery. 
Found on bare slopes and stony grounds from plains to 600m. Not common. Peninsular India.

This is Deccan Caralluma [Caralluma adscendens]. Will send you some of my photographs.
Photographed at my farm. Will send photographs of the flowers later.
The Irula peoples from the Pillur Ghats, Coimbatore district eat the young stems. I also tasted many time.
I think I have seen them somewhere being sold in the market.
The aerial parts of both young and mature plants can be eaten, but younger plants are preferred. Older plants have medicinal properties and, I believe, are used for the treatment of Herpes.
You have seen it and also snapped it`s flower.
In Marathi it is called as "Makadshingi" & is used as vegetable in time of scarcity

Your photographs are Caralluma adscendens var. attenuata only. It is not var fimbriata
Corolla lobes 5, glabrous; hence Caralluma adscendens var. adscendens.
The flower looks like Caralluma adscendens var adscendens. Please share the picture of complete plane and also share the height of the plant.
