I have seen only two collections, Haines 4877 and Haines 4880, which would seem to have been collected in the wild. Echites caryophylata: This very much looks like echites. But even though the plant is a year old it has not thrown any climber shoots. Is it a bush variety or do I have to wait more for it to appear?
This may be Aganosma dichotoma (Synn: Echites caryophyllatta) of Apocynaceae family.

Very beautiful pictures of Aganosma dichotoma! If I remember correctly, though they look like (somewhat remotely to some) like one of the jui... this flower has no scent... am I correct? it has got very sweet smell.

First, let me forward a copy of this mail to eFI, for it may help to identify one pending thread - https://groups.google.com/d/msg/indiantreepix/00a7cX2zQz4/0jtGwB7x360J 2nd, I haven't seen the creeper, "Common crow_creeper1" and "Common crow_creeper2" yet, for as per 'Bengal Plants' it's distribution is in Bihar region of the then Bengal. It is most probably Aganosma caryophyllata of 'Flora of British India'. Since the photographs were taken in Kolkata it is quite possible the presence of this particular species there, for Bimal Da also has this one in North-Bengal. The present accepted name is a problem, for FoI think it is A. heynei; eFI thinks A. dichotoma while IBP thinks A. caryophyllata. It is a climber with leaves, usually with red nerves, 2-5 pairs secondary nerves (ref. Haines). You may like to check efi thread. The "creeper" with prickly stem is a Smilax sp.; two spp are found in our region S. macrophylla roxb. and S. prolifera Roxb. (S. perfoliata); the two can be differentiated by presence/ absence of auricle at the base of petiole. Please check 1st photograph in efi thread. But the problem is leaves at the apical region of S. prolifera (Smilax perfoliata) are also non-auriculate like that of Smilax macrophylla. I would say it is Smilax perfoliata since it is very common here.
