Please help to id this Heracleum sp from Matheran.
The plant grows on the edge of cliffs in exposed locations.
Whole plant is very fragrant when crushed.
Pics were taken on 21.8.2013
... this is most probably Peucedanum grande of Apiaceae.
thanks for the suggestion, ...,
Cooke says that in P. grande (which is now Heracleum grande according to Fl of Maharashtram BSI) the primary umbels are 10-20 rayed and the partial umbels 10-20 rayed.
I was wondering if it could be Heracleum aquilegifolium.
Agree with ... This looks like the Hill Carrot / Wild Carrot [Heracleum grande previously Peucedanum grande] to me. Have this on my property at Shahapur.
I had kept this plant as H. grande up until now.
Then after comparing the various close species I became quite confused  - counting the rays, comparing the leaves and the stated heights for the plants. The other factor I considered is the reported flowering time. H. grande is usually stated as flowering in July- Aug whereas the other one is September. I noticed that the plants I photographed the other day were only just beginning to come into bloom.
Heracleum dalgadianum S.M.Almeida, by classification must be "grayish- hirsute/hirtellus....atleast on the lower surface of leaves" (Almeida, Fl. of MH. vol.4: 354). But the one posted by ... seems to be totally glabrous. It can be either Heracleum grande  or Heracleum aquilegifolium. Based on the leaves, I stick to H.grande (Dalzell & A. Gibson) Mukhop.

Small plant for ID :: Sinhagad, Aug 201 :: ARK2019-12 : 5 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (2)
This is one of the earlier pics. Seen this at Sinhagad, Pune, a hill in Aug 2014.
Requested to please ID.

... the leaf and venation reminds me of Peucedanum grande ... but looks like miniature version, perhaps due to habitat, not sure.
Thank you ...  Attaching another pic of the flowers, although not very clear.
I think it fits Peucedanum grande ... Let us wait for someone to validate the ID.
This had been earlier identified as Heracleum grande when I had posted it for the first time (Sinhagad, Aug 2014 :: Requesting ID of this plant :: ARKAUG-06)
I had somehow missed the first post and inadvertently posted this the second time.
Would like opinion on whether this is Heracleum grande or Peucedanum grande.
