Which one you are referring to here ? I am attaching herewith an image of the possible isolectotype of Desmos lawii downloaded from the website of Kew herbarium (K 000691354) for comparison. Image of the lectotype is available at the website of Gray Herbarium (GH 00039292). While Desmos chinensis is a widespread species, the other, i. e. D. lawii, recognized by Ian Turner (2015) as a distinct species, is restricted to peninsular India. The latter was once merged with D. chinensis with a varietal status. Coming back to the present images, having some acquaintance with the species of Desmos and the variations exhibited by D. chinensis, I would like to support the view of Turner (2015) that D. lawii may be treated as a distinct species, restricted to peninsular India, differing consistently from D. chinensis in the much shorter sepals and the linear rather than lanceolate petals. While D. lawii is very common in Karnataka, D. chinensis is rather scarce in peninsular India. The present images match well with the type specimens of D. lawii. Thank you very much ... for bringing up this descrepancy. Thank you too, for clarifying, ... References: A conspectus of Indo-Burmese Annonaceae by I. M.
