China (SE-Yunnan), N-Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Andaman Isl. (Middle Andaman Isl., South Andaman Isl.), India (Darjeeling, Assam, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram), Sikkim, Myanmar [Burma] (Bago, Chin, Kayin, Sagaing, Taninthayi), Bangladesh as per Catalogue of Life;


Trees, up to 30 m tall. Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; petiolules ca. 2-5 mm long; petioles ca. 5-8.5 cm long; lamina ca. 7-15 x 4-6 cm, oblong-lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, caudate-acuminate, obliquely rounded at base, acuminate at apex, serrate along margins. Flowers in panicles ca. 15 cm long; Male flowers ca. 3 mm across; pedicel ca. 3 mm long; calyx lobes ovate, margin ciliate; petals ca. 2 x 1 mm, oblong; stamens 10, ca. 2 mm long; disc ca. 1 mm in diam.; Female flowers ca. 5 mm across; sepals and petals as in male flowers; stamens much reduced forming staminodes; ovary ca. 2.5 x 1.8 mm, superior; stigma capitate. Drupes ca. 1.5-2.5 x 0.8-1.5 cm, yellow when ripe, oblong.
In forests up to 1000 m, rarely up to 2000 m.
India: West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Andaman Islands, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Wild tree with long broad leaves and fruits from Cherrapunjee area of Meghalaya.
Collected: April 2019, adjacent to stream
Altitude: possibly about 1400m
No latex produced from broken leaves or fruits
No fragrance
Seed one inside fruit, not hard to cut through

Ficus sp. ??
The fruit has a single seed... am reminded of Anacardiaceae… but no latex..no fragrance. Have attached a photo of cut fruit
