nice. Is it accidental drowning or does this lily love wet feet? like some irises
Thanks ... This plant is water-loving, found typically in riverine habitat - shallow river beds.

Crinum defixum?? please confirm : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2)
While wondering around vembnad lake In kerla i found this interesting looking crinum species searched on internet for identification it turn out to be Crinum defixum Kar-Gawl
please confirm ????
2015 May Kerla, kottaym, vembnad lake
habitat : along the margins of lake in marshy land
Since C. defixum Ker and C. ensifolium Roxb. of FBI are syn. of Crinum viviparum (Lam.) R.Ansari & V.J.Nair, I think the id is probable as per KEY and description in FBI, BP, BoBO.
It is Crinum viviparum. C. defixum is synonym of C. viviparum.
The species is very common throughout the Peninsular India and is found along streams, river banks etc.
I agree, Crinum defixum

Jangli lahsun: Can any one please tell me the correct identity of a plant called Jangali Lahsun. According to me the name is Crinum defixum. however, on chemical tests the plant which we have collected from Bihar and Jharkhand region is not giving a proper test for the presence of chemicals reported in literature for crinum defixum. that means the identity is wrong for the plant on our part.
if it is crinum defixum only, where can i find the plant in the region of North India like Himacha pradesh or can any one please guide me to a seller who sells this plant in market. the bulbs are used for the analysis purpose
and we need the bulbs only....

If you are working with the plant, you must be having flowering specimens, photograph or herbarium. Crinum can't be confused with species of Allium (some may be called as Jungli lassun). Perhaps if you send photographs some of us may be able to identify.
If you are sure about Crinum defixum Ker-Gawl which is now Crinum viviparum Ansari& Nair, then this is a plant that grows on the rocky beds of rivers in peninsular India. I have a few plants in my collection and I can spare one for you.
More details furnished as below in another thread (https://groups.google.com/group/indiantreepix/browse_thread/thread/7d... #):
"i am looking for a plant called Crinum defixum....the information for which is available on the following link.... http://www.indianetzone.com/38/kandali_plant.htm<http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://www.indianetzone.com/38/kanda...>
i need the bulbs of this plant in a substantial amount (~50kg fresh weight).
can anyone from Uttarakhand (preferably) or west bengal or any other state of peninsular India (preferred locations by this plant) help me collect the amount....
the problem is that some work was taken up on this plant by one of the PhD students at our institute (NIPER) but it so happened that the specimen which he collected seems to be fake and is not giving any results on the chemical analysis front.....his work is suffering...
can anyone please help... "

Crinum ¿ species ?
Dear friends,
Do these photos give any idea of the species ? Could it be Crinum viviparum ? The plant is growing on river bed of one of the branches of Kabini river.

To me also appears close to Crinum viviparum as per comparative images at Crinum
Thank you very much ... for having same thoughts about the ID.
