Yet none of my above two threads is A. coynei. The set featured in this thread neither shows l-o-n-g spike nor densely arranged flowers, nor even similar leaves found in the paper above. Achyranthes species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net) Please mention the place and altitude Achyranthes bidentata grows mostly at altitudes above 3000 ft, may sometimes have pinkish flowers giving false impression of A. coynei, but habit as well as spike length (mostly less than 10 cm long) are like A. bidentata. Also leaves are usually acuminate as we can see here.. A. coynei is rather a gigantic form of Achyranthes aspera (which has hairy stems and leaves) with pinkish flowers and much longer spike (35-60 cm long as against 10-30 cm in A. aspera). Leaves are mostly obtuse with small mucro. It looks more like A. bidentata.
