Shrub Id from Bangladesh (Acanthaceae family?) : 9 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (1).
Habit: Shrub
Habitat: Hill slope
Location: Bandarban, Bangladesh
Flowering: March
Any Phlogacanthus ?
Can you ensure if leaves have acuminate apices?
This is probably Rhinacanthus, c.f. Rhinacanthus calcaratus Nees.
You should also check R. hessianus Diels - http://archive.today/ILwvx
I could find only two species of Rhinacanthus in India. Rhinacanthus nasutus & Rhinacanthus calcaratus NEES
Pl. seeRhinacanthus for details.
Yes, ..., "Bengal Plants" & FBI also report two species. But, the problem is nowhere I could find that R. calcaratus have flowers with green upper lip.
So, this plant seems to be some other member from other genus.

The leaves is acuminate.

In Encyclopedia of Flora and Fauna of Bangladesh mention upper lip sub entire, lobe minute. Flower white, leaves acuminate. flowering March to June. I have taken this pictures 26 March,2009

Please find more pictures  here with

In Bangladesh record of 2 species also. R.calcaratus was recorded from Chittagong District (Prain,1903)

R. nasutus found throughout the country
Looks like R. calcaratus.
Thank you .... It removes a number of confusions -
  1. Both FBI & BP mention, in calcaratus, flowers are just larger version of nasutus.
  2. FoC has a note on calcaratus at the end - http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=128303 (You can try google image search on Pseuderanthemum polyanthum and see the result!)
  3. The illustration in the link I have provided earlier shows flowers with visibly white upper lip
  4. In the 2nd link i provided earlier informs- in R. beesianus Diels, upper lip is greenish!
Well, as they say, all's well that ends well!
