Pl help me to identify the attached specimen:
Place:  Puzhal, Chennai Suburb, Tamilnadu
Date: 26-01-15
Found near the water body. Semi-erect and spreading.
May be Hygrophila sp.
Hygrophila species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net) 
BSI lists the species and their distribution
But, couldn't find KEY there.
Details of bracts & bracteoles, calyx, flower-leaf-etc size needed to for accurate identification.
It is not clear that if leaves have petioles.
This is most probably Hygrophila balsamica (L.f.) Raf. [Cardanthera balsamica (L.f.) Benth.] -

The specimen under reference match with Hygrophila balsamica as suggested.

Herb of 1/2- 3/4 ft. high, lowers leaves very much toothed. Flowers 4-6 on the nodes. Bracts foliaceous. Anthers appears to be 2.

Is this not H. balsamica, or Cardanthera balsamica shown also on FOI site ?
Lower leaves of plants under water in marshy area become toothed.
Yes to Hygrophila balsamica. An aromatic plant found in marshy habitats.
