Flora of Australia-4: Fern-Asplenium australasicum.
It is called Bird`s nest fern.
Also leaf with spores.
This is great. Must be 100s of years old....
But I imagine, its not called tree fern. Just that its too old and looks like a tree.
Birds' nest fern is not a tree, this one just has a long stalk from yearly leaf growth rings... just like the Cycads...
on this plant notice the leaf skirt of brown earlier year's leaves...

It grows well in humid climate and in Arunachal Pradesh big clusters of it on tree trunk is an usual site.
Yes, in Kolkata too...

Ah! this is is sold here as an indoor plant, quite popular, birdnest fern i think it is called.
just read on wiki: In Hong Kong, this species is under protection based on Forestry Regulations Cap. 96A
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forestry_Regulations_Cap._96A>.

Will it be Asplenium australasicum Hook. more specifically as per your views in Plant for ID : Conservatory,Atlanta Botanical Garden, Atlanta : 22JUL20 : AK-27

I would only guess it is more like A. australasicum- but from this I can't specify exactly - would need to study it face-to-face plus spores etc.
