Distance Education Day (One pager)

30 seconds about the court case in 1982

 Bravo, Nova University

Commemorating

Distance Education Day
3 March 1982

This court case laid the legal groundwork for borderless education.

When pioneering Nova University of Florida offered courses in other states (where the university did not have a physical campus), the University of North Carolina challenged -- and the court ruled that Nova had a right to offer its courses.

This court case opened the door that University of Phoenix, Kaplan and other online universities used when the Internet came into being a decade later.

Let's commemorate the 30th anniversary of this historic court decision.
